	Well Biker Dogs, I was so thrilled to be invited to join this group, but we're a pretty sleepy bunch of puppies. I'm taking a break for awhile...hopefully one of you dawgs will pick up the reins and start some conversations. Speaking of 'the reins,' Mommy and I were devasted at yesterday's horse race, The Preakness, when Barbaro, the Triple Crown hopeful, broke a bone(s?) in his right hind leg. We are hoping and praying for his recovery....such a magnificent beastie. Mommy loves horses as much as she love ME, and that is ALOT, so she was pretty shaken by it. Happy Bikin' Pupsters!

	Hiya all...We saw the Preakness, and we were pretty upset by it all too. Hopefully he will be put to pasture or sale as a riding horse, I hate the thought of him being put down because he's not going to make any more money. Was he a gelding??? I don't remember. Anyway I don't like rodeos either, but thats just me. What about you guys??

	We didn't see it, we forgot about it. Mom is glad now, she HATES to see something like that happen! She loves horses but feels conflicted about horse racing at the professional level--worried that horses are badly treated if they don't win. And no to rodeos too! Can't even watch.

	Well EJ, I am afraid that Barbaro will never be a riding horse, if he survives. He is a stallion and will be used for stud purposes, the offspring being worth millions of dollars (heard that on the news tonight). The reason I say IF he survives....he broke 3 bones in his ankle and most horses would have had to have been euthanized had it not been for the excellent horsemanship and speed of his wonderful jockey realizing that something was wrong, and the immediate on-the-spot care at the racetrack. The operation was considered a success, but they say it is too early to tell. A horse of his calibre, and being full Thoroughbred and in excellent physical shape, may cause problems coming out of anaesthesia by thrashing and kicking....he will be closely watched, and we will keep our fingers crossed... Mommy is still pretty upset about it, loving horses the way she does....

	We saw the picture on the front page of the paper. Its so sad. We are all hopeful the horsey will recover or at least they'll keep the poor thing alive. You could tell the horse was in pain. Poor thing.
