Hi guys,
I'm new to this "Group and Forum" stuff so bear with me! I was just wondering how many of you out there sing to your dogs and maybe write a verse of your favorite song. We've always sung to our pets and we feel they really enjoy it. I'll go first:
Oh my, Sha-Shay
To me you are so won-der-ful!
Oh my, Sha-shay
To me, you are so graaannnnnnnd!
Oh my Sha-shay
To me, you are so beautiful!
Oh my Sha-shay
To me, you are so graaannnnnnd!

Now you try it!

I hate to admit this but, yes, I sing to the dogs and change the words to apply to them. I'm not so sure they like it (I'm not the best singer) but I think they like that all the attention is being focused on them.

But aside from me to singing to my dogs, my dogs sing to me and it is hysterical. Otto is the group leader -- he is aways singing and getting the others to join in. He has great range and a nice tone. But my poor little Ticker is tone deaf and his howl is shrill and off key. He is like one of those really bad early contestants on Amercian Idol. But he loves to sing and he sings loud -- and we always tell him what a good little singer he is.

If I think of any of the songs I sing the dogs, I'll post them. (If they are not too humiliating.)

OK. I caught myself singing this one last night to one of my boys so I will share it. Now, keep in mind that three of my dogs have aggression issues so they bite. (They came from rescue and have had hard pasts.) This is a song I sing to them…

He’s a rebel and he’ll never ever be, any good.
He’s a rebel cause he never ever does, what he should.
Just because he doesn’t do what, everybody else does,
That’s no reason that, I can’t give him all my love.
He’s always biting me, good to him I’ll try to be,
Cause he’s not a rebel, no-no-no.
He’s not a rebel, no-no-no, to me-e-e-e.

That song goes out to my three little biting rebel boys, Otto, Ticker and Jesse.

Glad you liked it, Shady. It's a song from the early 60s about a girl in love with a rebel bad boy type. But oddly enough, it also applys well to little biting Chihuahuas. Ha!

We have a made-up song that we sing to my (almost)4 year old son, but it seems to have been re-worded a little to apply to the puppy:

"His name was Bo-dog, he was a Doozer,
When he's a big dog, he'll be a bruiser..."

Anyway, someday we will figure out what a "Doozer" is...

Cool song, Bo...
Wasn't DOOZER a guy off of "Fraggle Rock"? I don't know if he was a fraggle or one of the construction workers ... The name just sounds familiar...hmmm

Oh ya! The tiny little green guys that built things! That's where I heard it. I have been calling my son that since he was born, but I couldn't remember where I had heard it. Thanks!

You're welcome! For some reason nonense stuff like that always sticks in my head.
Here's another Shady song (sung to the beat of Buddy Holly's Peggy Sue):

Shadyface, Shadyface
Oh how I love your face
My Shady
My Shady face
Oh I love my girl
and I love her little face
