Oh my god, Gus is very naughty!

Schnaggles will eat everything except honey so that leaves his stealing options quite wide. Buffy isn't quite as addicted to food as he is but she is hyperactive so she keeps her trim figure.

Over Easter we had hot cross buns for breakfast one morning and left the plate on the dining table. About half an hour later Buffy came into the loungeroom with half a hot cross bun in her mouth and then Schnaggles came in with another half in his mouth. I screamed at my partner for giving them such big snacks(!) and oops, he didn't because they had found a way onto the chair and up onto the table - yep, they're not supposed to jump are they???!!!

We feed the cats on the kitchen table away from the Electroluxhounds but the cats seem to have worked out a deal to push their unwanted food off the table for the dogs so they get new food ... too smart for us.

Hi, Nicholas only has 4 teeth left but he gets some softened dry food with 'Ski Lite Honey Buzz' Yoghurt & a pinch of Glucosamine & Chondroitin powder & a few 'Cheerios' in the morning. In the evening he will get something different each night, so a combination of dry food, glucosamine powder, rice, veges, parsley, & either some Fresh4Pets mince (yummy), tinned food, tuna, or cooked chicken.

My girl Amy is eleven years old and she has always eaten Pal mini bites with the occassional change to another brand. This was supplemented with leftovers and a nice bone once a week. Having grown up around cats she likes to try to steal their biscuits and has the occassional chicken wing. Unfortunately a trip to the vet necessitated six teeth being pulled out so she has canned food a few times a week now. Her weight has always been between 4 - 5 kilos and she is in very good health. 'Sweetie' is a rare treat and a bribe for when she wont answer 'come'.

I have had dacshunds all my life and know they are 24/7 hoovers if you let them be.
My 3 dachshunds I have now are fed science diet canned and dry food and I also incorporate mince and vegies cooked up for them.
Once a week they have always had a marrow bone each ,but after Charlie Browns last vet visit and we asked about his teeth the vet recommended we try chciken necks and wings which I think is disgusting only because I have to handle them to them (ha ha) but if it will help clear the tartar from Charleis teeth then great and the chicken necks are soooooooooooo cheap I got 6 for 60cents this week.
Our dogs hardly ever get JUNK food and the only bad things they get is the little amounts of cheese and biscuits but like I said thats RARE as they know they dont get any thing else.My late dacshunds Honey(she lived to the age of 16) knew the schmackoos tv ad song so well when it came on she would run to the dog cupboard and wait so with these dacshunds I have NEVER told them what schmackos are , every treat they only know as a DOG LOLLY so they wont get sucked in my tv ads (haha). Our vets always compliments our hounds for being kept in shape well etc as the vets see soooooooooooooo many OVER WEIGHT dacshunds and I said every dachshund is a vacuum cleaner its the owners responsibility to only allow the vacuum to eat the right food and the right amount.
We all enjoy this new group

My boys eating habits are different. On a daily basis Gus has half cup dry diet food and half cup wet dog food and Dougyl has 3/4 wet food and 1/4 dry. They have eaten chicked (raw) wings since they were 8 weeks old and I have never had a problem with them.

The eldest, Gus. will eat anything and has been known to climb over a steering wheel in a car to get to a slice of pecan pie on the dashboard when no one was looking. We lef thim alone in a back courtyard one day when we were inside eating bar-b-que and when I went to check on him he had literally licked clean the fat drip tray from the weber. We won;t discuss the mild diabetic coma he went into the next day because of the fat content. Gus seems to have no stop mechanism and by the sounds of his gushing his food down no chew control either. Dougyl is a bit more delicate and chews each item of food thoroughly and thoughtfully. Saturday is always bone day and Gus can devour a whole marrow bone (i get it cut in half and the marrow scraped out, too fatty) and Dougly prefers meat and a bit of bone.

Dela eats the same thing as the other two dogs ( Shih Tzu x Silky & Cav King Charles) Dinner is around 5pm and consists of a mixture of dry food and soft food. Im experimenting with different dry food but often change what I feed them for variety. Dry food has usually either been Eukanuba, Super Coat etc but at the moment they are on the new pedigree natural. As far as soft food goes, I sometimes cook up pet chicken mince with rice, pasta and veges.. or buy the 4legs home cooked food or vital pet food or they also might have fresh pet meat (which they will fight over), dog food roll , sometimes canned mydog.. but generally try to keep to the fresh stuff. No set rules.. They some times get isaacs (my son) leftover crusts from his morning toast and a supecoat baked bones or other crunchy treats such as denta bones, raw hide treats etc to help clean their teethy pegs.
