I got a mast cell tumor in the muscle in the back of my neck six months ago. I had it removed, then the scar tissue inside never healed right. There was an infection in the scar tissue and it finally swelled up last month, so they had to go in again and remove scar tissue. This time, they found NO mast cells. (YAY!!!) I didn't go through radiation or chemo. $2,000 + later and two surgeries later, I am doing better than ever. They even think the mast cell tumor was causing my allergies (they create histamines). I am so over the cancer, but I don't think my mom is. But I really don't mind the extra petting while she checks me for "lumps". So far, I have not had anything new show up...but I'm not going to tell her to stop looking. ; )

I was just diagnosed with mediastinal lymphoma on Friday, May 9th. I started chemotherapy the next day. It's a 25 week protocol, weekly for the first 9 weeks and then every other week thereafter. I didn't have a very good first week unfortunately but hopefully I'll get stronger and my parents will figure out the kinks throughout this process. Appetite is not the same anymore even after just a week and a half. I'm trying to be a strong, brave doggy.

Well, my lumps have been growning and it's getting harder to walk up steps and get up but I'm still hanging in there. I was supposed to have surgery 2 weeks ago, but my vet didn't feel he could get it all, it had gotten too out of hand so I'm trying to enjoy my time I have left by nuzzling my owner for affection, laying on her couch & eating all the treats I can and getting my rest.

Hi guys! *Big goofy great dane nudge* I found out last month I have bone cancer and horse doc (my vetter) said it was too far gone. But I'm on rimadyl and it makes the painful spots not so bad. But foods gotten hard to eat. My flyball kid (I'm a retired flyball player) makes different recipes for me now to get me eating. But you know, I still like to do tricks and I still enjoy leaning on people until they fall over. Horse doc said something about six months but I'm gonna live it up while I still got it right? Woof!

Oh guys! hughughughughughughughug Hugs to you all! Remember pups, if you need anything at all, my Mom is just a pawmail away. Don't feel like you would be disturbing her, because she is willing to help all she can. We are here to support each other and that is what we need to do.

Hello everyone! My name is Dorie and I was diagnosed with Mesothelioma after I had trouble breathing last November. My mom spent a lot of money but was finally able to find out what was wrong with me at Tufts School of Veterinary Medicine. The vet there was sooo nice and I started Chemo just before Christmas. At first I was sicker than a cat but now I'm doing well- no chemo since end of January and I've gained so much weight on my EVO that I need to go on a little bit of a diet! Yesterday I went for a 2 mile walk and was able to visit my favorite "watering" hole- a manhole cover! snoopy I know the vet said my treatment was "palliative" but, I feel wonderful right now and mom is very happy- she says, out of all her dogs, I'm the one who loves life the most and shows my bliss in all my waking minuteshappy dance

Hello everyfur! We've been away from this group for a while. As of December 5, 2008 I am 3 years without that nasty big c showing up! Mom and I just celebrated my 13th barkday! Mom worries about me--she takes me to see my dogter every month--but I'm happy because I take it one day at a time. I'm starting to show the signs of being a senior--I sometimes sleep so deeply that I don't hear mom come home from work! I have barking jags for no reason! And I've got old-lady warts! But that's OK 'cause I've had 3 more years than the dogtors originally thought I would have! Mom is still a bit neurotic about my health, but I keep telling her that she's doing all she can so chill out! happy dance

Great news, Bailey!!!! My mom watches me too much sometimes too but I can still sneak some things past her- today I got a mouthful of the cat's food and she didn't notice until it was too late! Hah! I also went for another wonderful walk today- it felt like Spring!!!!
