Mom was answering Sarge and wanted to tell him about a book she finished last week. Then she forgot the title. Then she went to Amazon and looked it up. Not there. So she typed in "alcoholic and dog: and up it popped. Strange what you have to do sometimes.

Anyway, long story short, "Bad Dog: A Love Story" by Martin Kihn is a new book ordered in by the library without Mom asking. Didn't know if wanted to read yet another book about an alcoholic and a dog (i.e., Pack of Two) but went for it. The guy is a very good writer - very funny at times as he chronicles his attempt to 1) quit drinking, 2)win his wife back, and 3)train his Bernese Mountain dog who seems untrainable. Good book.dog

My dad is going to get Finding Jack, but he has seen alcohol hurt and even destroy people so he will pass on this book.

I can appreciate why you choose not to read this book. It is good this man found this dog and even better this dog found this man: to teach patience, life one day at a time, the ability to learn new things despite past patterns of behavior. Jesse, we had to return before we finished as it was on a waiting list. Had 3 we were trying to read at once - which is not easy at best!

And several of our reserves came in - hoping to pick it back up though. Mom worked at the library book sale on Friday - very busy the first day and that's good. The library needs the revenue as they are hurting.

The woman mom works with mentioned the Sue Grafton books as a good series - we like reading series. Have you read those - A is for Alibi - on and on - snoopy
