Me again. You're right about the coming into their own and maturing at 3.That's been my experience with both Mattie and Mika.
You'll probably continue to see a more subtle maturity all the way to age five. The change that happens at around 3 seems really sudden in my experience and you see them change almost daily with that one.Any unnecessary or excessive barking just suddenly stops, area used to guage direct threat becomes smaller, they read people ,even you better and know when they've pushed you a little too far and will back off a behavior or take a command more seriously.By age 5 you will swear she can read your mind and can actually think things through before they go too far.Ex: If I do A mom Will do "B" and neither of us is going to be happy with the results ,so I really shouldn't do "A" at least not with the mood mom's in now. So,Yea they are different and the work and dedication you put in really is worth it,and the harder you work at it the more you get back. And ,the best reward for me is knowing that the negative attitudes are out there, but my dogs show the breed at the very best they can be.Like when someone pets them and says "What sweet well behaved dogs you have, then they ask what they are and You say Akita's and they say "These dogs are nothing like the things I've read/heard about them.
