It's been a long time since I've been on here. Today my mom notice that I was getting a bunch of bumps that were about pea size on my hind legs and a few on the rest of my body. My mom gave me a bath with my prescription hypoallergenic shampoo and leave in spray conditioner. I am allergic to about 8 different grasses and trees. My mom thought that a bath with my special shampoo would help. About an hour later the bumps on my body grew to the size of quarters and became even more concentrated on my hind legs. My mom put up a couple of pics on my profile to see if any1 could look at them to give her an idea of what could be causing this. Oh my mom also gave me my normal allergy shot too...but it seems the bath made the bumps worse. frown

Hi Spencer,
It looks like hives or maybe misquito bites. WE usually get hives after being bitten by a misquito or a bee sting. Mom gives us benadryl. But I would have thought your allergy shot would have help. Please keep us posted on how you are.

They look like bug bites - mosquito or some sort of black fly. The best way to know for sure is look on your belly where you have no fur - if it looks like a red circle with a dot in the middle its a bug bite.

I get like that when we go to the cottage and I am outside too long when it starts to get dark and the bugs come out. Mom usually gives me 1/2 a benadryl and keeps me inside - they will go away on their own without the pill.

Same thing happens to my Lily...usually after a bee sting. We usually take her to the vet to get a Cortizone shot with Prednisone for the swelling to speed up the recovery process and then follow it up at home the next day with a benedryl tablet. Works like a charm everytime!

Hope your little guy feels better!

Wow...spencer....they must've been some big mosquitos if that's what it was.

Did your mom find out what it is?

Spencer...hope you are ok. My mom think they look like hives and she said that I had them once and she gave me benadryl. My skin brother gets hives sometimes, too and they look like that.

Hope you are ok.

Spencer -

We are with the majority here - bug bites. JD gets welts from mosequitos and recently broke out in hives from what we think was a bee sting. Benadryl did the trick in helping to relieve the discomfort. We also keep some "Skin so Soft" by the door to spray on JD and Capone during the worst of bug season.

Hope all is better.
