Terrier!?

I'm only 4 months old and I think it is a blast to Nip and Run. This involves tearing around the room at full speed and taking a good Nip out of my human brothers' toes, feet, or legs. They don't think it is as much fun as I do. Anyone have any alternative games for me to try?

Porthos, if I were you I would just stick to that fun game. big laugh
I used to do that a lot when I was a puppy. Dad still has a favorite pair of jeans that I ripped a hole in the leg & I'm sure that is the reason. laugh out loud That hole reminds him of me. way to go

I don't do it as much now. Sometimes I just wanted to play tug. Now I have a sister who tugs wiff me all the time. way to go

Ok, but my Dad gets pretty mad about it. He said something about sending me back to the farm, or something like that. I think my Mom is worried. I better grow out of it, or I think I'm in trouble.

YIKES! Maybe I had better rethink my advice strategy! Right now you need a LOT of play time. Tugging is a great game that uses up a lot of your pent up energy. Tell your pawrents to provide LOTS of chew toys and rawhide cuz you WILL chew during this first year. I chewed up NINE pairs of Mom's sandals my first year. laugh out loudlaugh out loudlaugh out loud

She finally learned to keep them out of my way. She sez I am wurf it though. way to go

Ok, Winston I think I've got the idea now. Chewing is good; nipping my human brothers is bad. They seem like puppies to me, so I forget. And, I know that my Mom knows I will be wurf all this puppy trouble, too!

Yes Porthos, you are a terrier/terror puppy! What Winston the wise tells you is true. My mom is a big ( huge) believer in "dogs come in twos". It all began 25 years ago when she couldn't let two litter mates be separated so she took both of them home. You can read all about Travis & Burleigh at http://www.dogster.com/dogs/479199. Since then, there have always been two dogs around the house. As puppies they take out all that energy on one another so clothes, furniture, and building structures are safe. If a second dog is out at least for now, tug toys and chew toys are good. Also, if you have human brothers and fathers, there are always old digusting sox that are treasures to dogs. They seem to like having that "thing with a human smell" and a sock is fun to tie a ball inside of. Keep us posted. puppy

I feel your pain! Literally! My Fozzie loves to bite. It has definitely caused stress in my house especially since he has also bitten people who are over. His teeth (although done teething) are extremely sharp and it often hurts and even leaves marks at times. We are very strict with his behavior, not overly lovey-dovey and do let him get away with things - sometimes I think he revels in the fact that he is in trouble. He is given a lot of attention, taken on day trips and exercised, but I guess it's just a terrier thing. When we first got him it was much worse and I was worried I made the wrong breed decision. I have met other people with WFT and they tell me it stops and most of their dogs seemed very calm and docile. I am praying this is the case with mine. Last night he was given a bully stick to keep him busy while company was over and when I left the room he started biting my friend's legs and jeans. It does worry me that he will really hurt someone. confused
