For all my hounds my vet has always had me use a home made version of swimmers ear solution.
I have thought about purchasing some ear cleaning solution online but wasnt sure which company/brand to go with.
Alot of them online I see have many ingredients, I wonder if my solution is better since it only contains 2 items.

I am curious what others are using.

Birdie - its alchol and white vinegar - its a 3 to one ratio, when I get home I will tell you which one is the 3 and which one is the one 1. Cant remember off the top of my head.
Fred use to have horrible ear issues and Ive been using this solution for over a year on him and its done wonders and keeps the inside of his ears amazingly clean and smell free.

Since I clean his ears out every other day I do like my solution since its CHEAP!! But it would be nice to have a bottle on hand if I dont have the stuff to make the solution.

Our beagle will sit and clean both of Busters ears and what he misses we use the ear wipes. they come in a babby wipe like jar. I was told never use Q tips because if they move you can cause ear damage. They both like the ear wipes and let us clean there ears

Birdie – it could totally burn if they have an ear infection. I can tell by the look and smell of Fred’s ears if he has one so I hold off during that time. He hasn’t had an ear infection in over a year on this mix and his ears are so clean, now if I could just get my lab to enjoy getting her ears cleaned!!

I looked around online and the prices are high for ear cleaning solution, I guess ill stick to my mix that cost me $2.00!

We use Aurocin (sp) that we buy from the vet. It smells really good. Our guys are pretty good about letting us clean ears. Of course, we also have a standing prescription of Otomax and Mometamax for the more than occasional ear infection.
