Benny,

BOL about the raw food issues. Dadee went with mum to a raw food restaurant this past weekend (on a suggestion from Sienna & Zuki's mom) and dadee had a hard time with the food. He silently freaked out on the inside but was a brave soldier about being there.

He got scared when mum told him that she loved raw food and was having an even harder time when mum told him that she would love to go completely raw. But then he was relieved when she told him that she was thinking it might be better to incorporate more raw foods into her diet for now. I think I told you this before - Dadee is still a carnivore. It bothers mum, but she doesn't push the issue. She just silently prays that he will change. She'd like him to at least become a vegetarian. Then there would be peace about the meat/no meat issue. All three of us are vegans and we would like dadee to join us. Papa has a hard time because while mum will buy him me*t at the food store, she refuses to cook it for him. But all in all he has been very supportive of her vegan ways.

Mum used to be a cheese freak before going vegetarian and then vegan. Has your dad tried the soy cheese? I think that would be a little easier on him than the rice cheese. Mum thinks the soy cheese has more of a cheese type texture. The rice cheese is sort of 'drier' if that makes any sense. I think the soy cheese I'm taking about is made my galaxy foods. They also make a line of vegan cheeses too. But we haven't had those yet.

Do you have a Trader Joes near you? We shop there. Mum likes it. You can get lots of organic things for real cheap. You have to buy Trader Joe's brand, but they have good stuff.

That's great to hear about your walk! You can put your passion for the orphaned and homeless animals to good use. Let us know how it goes.

Hi Lydia,

Maybe our Daddies need a support group laugh out loud Mommy always wanted to be a vegetarian but didn't think she could ever give up chicken. It was her fave food. But she was on a diet (she's lost 73 lbs. so far) and she started reading and cutting out processed foods, anything with high fructose corn syrup, artificial anything, and just about anything white (except Daddy wink ). Then she watched "Meet Your Me*t" and she cried so much. She said she couldn't be part of that anymore. She started making veggie food (she had learned how to cook and used to be a Food Network fanatic) and then tried to eat chicken and fish just once each and felt sick. So she never went back.

Daddy dragged behind, partly to use up the food that was left and not just get rid of it but he went along to vegetarian well. Mommy said she would do that for a year and then go vegan but she couldn't wait. To her it felt hypocritical since the animals were still suffering for the dairy and eggs. For Daddy it was the cheese (he does like soy cheese, Galaxy and Tofutti) and not being able to get pizza out. He loooooves pizza. Mommy now makes her own with whole wheat crust and other yummy toppings so he's happy but it's hard not being able to just get a slice out. Mommy's last holdout was egg beaters because of her diet. She ate spinach egg white omelets everyday. She hates bread and cereal and carb foods. But now she's learned how to make a tofu scramble so she's happy.

Daddy is trying to be vegan but every once in a while, he wants a hot chocolate at Starbucks and his bread has honey in it. Otherwise he's good. Mommy mentioned a raw food restaurant for her birthday and he looked like this shockcry but he'll follow her if it's what she wants. He'll really worry if she asks for a dehydrator. I don't think Mommy could go completely raw though since she likes her food to be very hot.

Thanks for the walkathon wishes. I will make sure Daddy carries me when I get tired. Oh, and I've been eating a nice combo of the Natural Balance organic and vcg kibble. I'm trying.

Love, Benny snoopy
