I decided to write a "chapter story" fur mew all to enjoy. It's called The Perfect Kitten.

Part 1

All his life Jeremy West wanted a kitten. And not just any kitten. He wanted the perfect kitten. The kind of kitten who would grow to be the perfect cat. He'd looked for years and years and never seem to find the right kitten. Until one day when he was on his way home from work. That's when the kitten found him instead. It was a scrawny dirty little tortie in a cardboard box of fluffy black and white kittens on a street corner. Jeremy couldn't understand it but he found himself reaching into the box and pulling out the ugly little kitten. He continued to walk home with the little kitten huddled purring against his coat. Once home he set the kitten on the kitchen floor. It scampered and flitted about. Soon Jeremy's wife came in and saw the little bundle of fur...

Part 2

Jeremy's wife exclaimed over the little kitten. Soon his children came to find out what was going on. They too adored the little kitten. Even the dog Sparky seemed against Jeremy's opinion of the kitten. So the kitten was settled in a box in the kitchen where he was ohhed and ahhed over. Jeremy ignored him. Several days passed and the kitten tried everything to attract Jeremy's attention. Nothing worked. The kitten grew despondent. After a week the kitten escaped thru the doggie door. He made his way thru several yards and hid in a bush. When Jeremy came home, he found everyone searching for the kitten. He began to feel it was his fault and ran outside to look for his kitten...

Jeremy called frantically for the little kitten. Having not named the kitten, he was reduced to calling here kitty kitty. Several other neighborhood cats respond. Jeremy grew more desperate. He knew he was wrong to have ignored the kitten. There had been a reason he had chosen it and now he was paying for his ignorance. Suddenly as he approached a yard 3 houses down from his, he hear a little mew...

Jeremy rushed forward towards a bush. Reaching into it, he pulled out the little kitten. The kitten looked up at him. Holding it close to his face, Jeremy began to cry. He told the kitten how sorry he was and how wrong he was to ignore it. He took the kitten back to his house. Sitting in a chair on the patio, he held the kitten close to him. That day Jeremy West stopped needing to look for the perfect kitten. He'd found it. The litte kitten grew into a beautiful cat over the years. Jeremy named her Odetta. Every year her took her to the street corner where the box had been and told her how he'd found her in the box and how she'd found his heart.
