I would like to nominate the rescue group, Friends for Life, located
in Gilbert, AZ.
I know of this group through a friend I use to work with. John is
a volunteer with F4L. There were many feral cats living behind
the company were John and I worked. John trapped the cats, one by one, and had them "fixed" by F4L, then released them.
Now, he helps make sure they get some food, 3-4 times a week, and water every day, which is important on the 120 degree days of summer here in AZ. (A fox would show up, now and then, to help themselves to the handout of food and water, too.) (I know it's said not to feed feral cats. The food is given mostly to make sure the cats get their vitamins.)
When John would go on vacation from work, he would ask me to take over the duties of feeding and watering the cats. I LOVED IT!!!!!
One kitty ,by the name of Blackster, really touched my heart. Though very feral, she would be out, waiting for the food or water to be served. She would talk to you too. (I was recently laid off from that company and will miss my times of feeding the kitties very much.)
Here is some history on the rescue group:
Friends for Life began in 1993 - then known as Citizens for Tempe Strays. Within two years our organization had a solid volunteer base, a dedicated board of directors, and was handling 1,200 adoptions per year. The growth and success prompted the name change to Friends for Life Animal Sanctuary - a name that better described our organization. In 1996, after only three short years, Friends for Life was able to lease three buildings in downtown Gilbert - a place that animals call "home" until they find a family of their very own.
Friends for Life is a member of the Alliance for Companion Animals. The Alliance is a coalition of 15 Arizona animal welfare groups whose goal is to find homeless animals lifetime, loving homes and educate the community about pet overpopulation.
So please consideration a donation for the month of March. When donating, please be sure to state that it is on behalf of Dogster's Doggie Do Gooders and then p-mail me your donation amount or if you provided items!
And our member, MILO is offering to create one portrait to the highest amount donated for this month! I will provide him the name at the end and notify the winner! You rock Milo!
