	My bestest pup pal in the world, Bella, is having a very difficult time. Recently Bella has spells where she gets restless and paces around endlessly until she's exhausted, and cries and moans. Even my ear chews don't seem to cheer her up. Her mom has had her to her vet and to internal medicine specialists, to try to find out what is wrong. Nothing is obvious, and she doesn't seem to have any painful tender spots, eating ok and peeing and pooping ok too. Her mom has tried to balance finding out what is wrong with not destroying the quality of what is left of her wonderful life. She is going to try a medication and if that doesn't help.... we're not sure what's next after that. I'd consider it a personal pup pal favor if the wonderful pups on Dogster could drop my sweetie Bella and her mom a message with barks of encouragement. 	One of my pals just gave Faccia Bella some ideas to help her. I know how close you are to Faccia Bella, Davy Dog...I know you lick her ears and take care of her, and she taught you how to explore the yard when you were a pup. You are all in my prayers. I will light a candle....

	Thanks Shelby! Yes I've licked her ears, even though she didn't seem to recognize me doing it. I love her so much and I'm so sad that she's fading! Here's a Bella update. She had a tough night last night, but she seems to be just a little better today than she's been for the last few days. She's actually walking with more strength now than a month ago when her back leg was really hurting, but she does have some problems with balance and navigating tight spaces. Probably a byproduct of her pacing is she's gotten stronger and has more stamina. Today we've seen some brief glimpses of the Bella we know, where last night she didn't recognize anyone and she was walking around like a robot. She has had extensive tests including full blood workup. At this point after a lot of analysis, appears that she has an issue in her brain, perhaps a tumor, that is affecting her behavior and some of her motor skills. She had been on an anti inflammatory drug for her leg, and because of that she can't take Prednisone for a week. Prednisone is the last resort to reduce swelling in her skull. She's 12 years old, so anasthesia for an MRI to locate a tumor, and more anasthesia and brain surgery would be just too much to put her through. We hope that Prednisone will help her recover her memories and personality and coordination. If not.... we'll keep her as comfortable as possible as long as possible. She's sleeping next to me right now and she's peaceful, and it actually seems that she's at peace much of the time that she's pacing. As far as the lighting the candle, there was a group but it seems to be gone now. We'll look into that. Thanks to all for your support! DD

	As of mid day Thursday, my buddy Facci is holding her own. At times she's still pacing to exhaustion, especially at night. She's been on the Prednisone for a little more than a day, got her second dose this morning. She's showing some small recovery of personality and memory, and lessening of anxiety, not much if any improvement of motor skills, depth perception, coordination... The Lady and the Man have kinda figured worked out a process to keep her going. She's getting food prepared with rice and broth, with goodies such as eggs or chicken mixed in, multiple times a day. She is still doing her business outside so her digestive system is still working. They are using the pain pills and Benadryl at the right times to help her sleep. Also have rigged up the living room so she can pace safely and not hit any sharp edges, not get to any of the stairs, cleared her favorite paths of obstructions, and set up night lighting so she can see where she's going but not inhibit her from sleeping when she's ready. They have taken turns sitting up with her and she's got a human with her alnost all the time. She's a sweetie, but she's also a tough old girl and working hard to recover as much as possible. Teddy and I still go outdoors with her to keep her safe, and with this snow and extremely cold weather (-16 deg F this morning, -6 deg F right now!), we break paths through the snow and keep a much closer watch over her.
