 | |  | | I remember the day we got Duet. We were on our way to the shelter to see a dog we had seen online. I was so sure that this dog was going to be my soul mate. When we got there we were introduced. The dog that was at the shelter, was nothing like what i thought he would be. He was drained of all energy, and was scidish around new people. We decided that this was not the kind of dog we were looking for. I was feeling very depressed. My Mom suggested thet we look at some of the other dogs at the shelter. Hoping it would cheer me up a bit I agreed. As my eyes shifted back and fourth, I was loseing all hope of finding my soul mate. Just about when I was going to give up all hope my Mom was looking into a cage where a young dachshund was sleeping. I liked small dogs, but my old dog was to dachshund. I just didn't think I would be able to let go of my old dogs memory that way. For no reason I turned around and saw a pair of beautiful brown eyes looking back at me. I wondered over to the cage, and put my hand up against the wires. The dog belonging to the brown eyes licked my hands as a response. I called my Mom over to look at this dog. My Mom said that she was adorable. The man who was escorting us around the shelter said that her name was "Duet". I looked at my brother and asked him if he wanted to take a look at her. He said Yes. We were put into a room with Duet. The room was covered in toys. It was set up to look like a living room. We sat patiently until the man brought Duet into the room. She playfully pounced on the toys. I moved to the floor to play with her. I looked into my Mom's eyes and with a smile on my face I told her that this was the one. We took Duet home with us and ever since then she has been my baby.
