Scripture:
A woman came up to him with an alsbaster flask of very precious perfume, and she poured it om His head as He reclined at table. And when the disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, For what purpose is all this waste?
Matthew 26: 7-8

Gift of Love

Just like a man! The disciples looked at the woman's love-gift from the practical male viewpoint. After all, this perfume was probably worth three hundred denarii. which represented a whole year's wagesfor a laborer.Surely it would have been better to sell the purfume and give all that money to the poor, instead of wasting it in a foolish female gesture of grief! They probably wagged their heads wisely and said to each other, "Just like a woman!"
But then Jesus scolded them for their practicality at a time that called for sacrificial love instead. He commended the woman. And then He said that wherever the gospel was preached , this story of her unselfish act would be told, too, as a lasting memorial to her. Jesus approved.
"Just like a woman." What does it mean? It means to be senitive to the needs of others; to put no price tag on the gift of love. Mary of Bethany say at Jesus' feet.
She grasped the full significance of the journey He would make to Jerusalem; the journey that would end in shame and death. And she brought her most prized possession as a gift for the man who would surly die. Mary wasn't shamed of being a woman.
Are you?
Do you wish for complete objectivity in your outlook? For strong decision-making capabilities freed from the emotional overtoneswhich so often affect you? God gave Adam these qualities. And then He gave him Eve as a counterbalance. You were made the way you are , with all the deep wellsprings of emotion that you so often deplore, because that's the way God wants you to be. To radiate love in the marriage relationship; to enfold in tenderness the children He has given you. To be emotioal. How wonderful it is to be what God planned for you to be......a woman.

Prayer:
Father in heaven, forgive me for the times I've been ashamed of being a woman. For the times I've wanted to be all the things a man is. Help me to appreciate my womanliness, as a gift from Thee. And shoe me how my love can grow; for You, for those under my roof; and for those who daily cross my path.
Amen.

Never pay back evil for evil to anyone.
Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable.
Do your part to live in peace with everyone, as much as possible.
Dear friends, never avenge yourselves.
Leave that to God.
Romans 12: 17-19

Truth and righteousness protect us during times of uncertainty and strife.

Preparing for Christmas... in Your Heart

Today's Truth
Philippians 4:4-7 "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Friend to Friend
Have you noticed how hard "re-entry" is?

One of my favorite movies is "Apollo 13" in which we first heard those famous words, "Houston, we have a problem", an understatement, to say the least. The astronauts faced seemingly impossible odds of getting back to earth but refused to give up the fight until they splashed down in the waters of home.

Life is much the same. We are often thrust into a daily life of foreign and often frightening worlds, shaky circumstances, and impossible trials with no obvious way of escape. It seems like we will never get home and our world will never be right again.

I have discovered a truth that surfaces in my heart every Christmas holiday. We all come into this world with a sense of being lost. Tucked into the corner of our souls is a feeling of restlessness...a longing for home, for something eternal. He has put it there to draw us to Himself. That longing will never be satisfied outside of a relationship with Him! God holds each today and every tomorrow in His hands. Nobody and nothing can fill the "God-shaped" hole in our heart.

I have come to cherish that desperate heart cry that drives me to my knees and into the lap of my Father! Each and every time I come to Him, He whispers, "It will be all right. You are not home - yet."

I do not want this broken and torn world to be my final home, but merely a place I am passing through. While I am here, I have a God-sized job to do, an extraordinary mission to complete and a wonderful purpose to fulfill. Is that awesome or what? Absolutely! But it is only the beginning of the eternity for which I was created. It doesn't get any better than that, my friend.

So as you dive into your hectic schedule, remember that one day, we will be home - with Him - but until then, let's celebrate here! Guard your hearts and mind by filling them with God's Word. Hold fast to the true meaning of the season and don't let go! Look for ways to share the message of the manger, embracing that longing for home as a sweet reminder that one day we will celebrate His birth in Heaven. What a Christmas that will be! And we are on our way home!

Let's pray
Oh God, I love You and am so thankful for the hope that eternity holds because I know You. I am not alone, nor will I ever be. I will lack nothing because You are my Provider. I can sing in the midst of the storm because You are sufficient. I praise You and long for Home. But while I'm here, help me to be all that You created me to be.
In Jesus' name, Amen!

DEATH~

WHAT A WONDERFUL WAY TO EXPLAIN IT !!!!!

A sick man turned to his doctor,
as he was preparing to leave the examination room and said,
"Doctor, I am afraid to die.
Tell me what lies on the other side."
Very quietly, the doctor said, "I don't know."
"You don't know?
You, a Christian man, do not know what is on the other side?"
The doctor was holding the handle of the door;
on th e other side came a sound of scratching and whining,
and as he opened the door,
a dog sprang into the room
and leaped on him with an eager show of gladness.
Turning to the patient, the doctor said,
"Did you notice my dog?
He's never been in this room before.
He didn't know what was inside.
He knew nothing except that his master was here,
and when the door opened, he sprang in without fear.
I know little of what is on the other side of death,
but I do know one thing...
I know my Master is there and that is enough."

Nothing Wasted

Today's Scripture
After everyone was full, Jesus told his disciples, “Now gather the leftovers, so that nothing is wasted” (John 6:12).

Today's Word

The Bible tells of a time when Jesus fed a crowd of five thousand with only five loaves. That day, everyone had more than enough to eat and there were still twelve baskets full of bread. That’s because we serve a God of abundance! I love that Jesus told the disciples to collect all the leftovers “so that nothing is wasted.” With God, nothing is ever wasted. He’ll never waste an experience; He’ll never waste a hurt; He’ll never waste a dream; He’ll never waste even a single piece of bread.

God is still in the miracle-working business. He is still our Creator and He is a Restorer. If you’ve felt like you’ve wasted years of your life in the wrong job, hanging around the wrong people, doing the wrong things, God will gather those years and restore them back to you. He’ll take those experiences that the enemy meant for your harm, and He’ll turn them around for your good. He’ll make you stronger, wiser, and better off than you were before. He can launch you further into your destiny than before. Be encouraged today because with God all things are possible and nothing is ever wasted!

A Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, I give You every bit of my life, my past, my present, and my future. Thank you for taking every experience in my life and turning it around for my good.
In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Acceptance
==========

I believe life is about acceptance. We can sit back and moan
about the raw deal life has given us or we can accept the cards
we have been dealt and make the most of them.

So many times people have asked me how I cope, and truthfully I
have days when I wonder myself amongst the chaos and confusion
that life in our household involves.

I have three children. One is autistic; he is beautiful, smart,
and intuitive in a way that is unique, frustrating, difficult to
understand and I love him.

Another child is undergoing testing for a rare endocrine
disorder which may mean that he will be steroid-dependent to
stay alive. It has been a long time since I have been able to
see him glowing with the health and vitality that we took for
granted six months ago.

I could reject the cards that God has given me but to do that
would be to deny myself the part of me that I am most proud of,
my children. They may have problems that others see as too big
or too difficult, but they are mine. I see their beauty and
their love not just for their family but the greater world
around them. The way they look at the world, the beauty they
see and the gifts that they bring to my life daily make it very
easy to accept the cards dealt to me.

For anyone out there who is going through difficulty and having
trouble seeing the beauty that is there in all our lives, please
have hope and find some time even if for just a few minutes to
count the multitude of blessings that God has given us in so
many ways.

The issues that are concerning you may not go away; but by
accepting them into your life as a part of it and remembering
the multitude of blessings we receive in other ways helps you to
grow stronger.

It is so much easier to accept the blessings but strength and
peace comes from accepting both the blessings and the challenges
we are given.

Put It Into Action!

Today's Scripture
“And I am praying that you will put into action the generosity that comes from your faith as you understand and experience all the good things we have in Christ” (Philemon 1:6, NLT).

Today's Word
The Bible tells us that faith without works is dead. That means if you don’t put your faith into action, it’s not really faith, it’s just a nice, but faulty, concept. When God truly does a work in our lives, it affects everything about us - our words, our thoughts, our actions. How do you know someone is generous? By their generous actions. How do you know someone is kind? By their kind actions. How do you know someone is gentle? By their gentle actions. How do you know someone is a follower of Christ? By their Christ-like actions!

Can people tell by your actions that you belong to God? We all have areas that we can come up higher in, but the Good News is that God promises to help us improve - to mold us and make us more like Him. Ask Him to search your heart and mind today. Surrender any area of your life that isn’t pleasing to Him. Invite Him to have His way in your life and allow Him to make you into all He intended you to be!

A Prayer for Today
Father in heaven, thank You for promising to help me to change - for wanting me to become more like You. I invite Your love to do a work in my heart so that You are reflected in everything I say and do.
In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
