Hiya Fellow Amazing Yellows,

My mom would like to know when do most yellow labs calm down? She has heard many different ages. The highest being 9 years old! My trainer said when I was three. Well I am three and showing no signs of less energy. My mom does love my energy but boy I could go nonestop. I could play 24/7 and well be in mischief 24/7 too. Oh and stories I could share of my mischeivous behavior! My parents walk me and I run in my yard but I always have tons of energy. Any other yellow labs very energetic too?

I am the first yellow lab my parents owned and they just wondered when other yellow labs calmed down and were uh less energetic? I hope everyone is having a great week!

Hi Tucker........ I'm a year old but I'm a labbie girl........mom said I should ask you if you've been fixed?.....ya know (blushes) neutured?
She said that usually helps calm boy pups down........but if the answer to that is yes..........what kind of food are you eating? is it natural food with no additives?
Personally I think you sound like a very healthy and attractive male labbie *winks*....

Hiya EmmaJean,

First thanks for responding to my post! Yes I am fixed. Man just think how hyper I would be if I wasn't - woo hoo! I would be jumping over the fence in my backyard! Anyway the food I currently eat is nutromax -for large breed dog. And for treats I love ice cubes. Only on special occasions do I eat frosty paws but boy when I do they are so yummy.

Also thanks for the compliments about being good looking and all. You are very beautiful young lady yourself!

Good question Tucker!

My mom kind of wants to know the same thing, although I'm really only hyper when people come over. Mom says I make it hard for friends to come over because she doesn't want to have to put me in a different room, but she won't let me jump all over the guests either. But I mean really, doesn't everyone come to our houses to see us? happy dance

Really good topic, Tucker! My grandparents owned several labbies before, and their energetic lifestyle is what made my mom choose me. we take walks, play chase, play fetch, all in the means of tiring me out for bedtime, but she is still always shocked to see that i am still bouncing around. she says i'm just a puppy so it should start wearing down, but she's not so sure when. i dont know much about the whole "fixed" thing (mom doesnt want that. she wants me to have babies!) plus i'm a girl so i dont know. but mom says that labs are known for their playfulness and she knows of a black lab that is eight years old that wears out the little pup sometimes!!

Hi every pup.......mom was watching an interesting show last night called It's me or the dog? I'm sure most of you have seen this? Well it happened to be about a dog ...one of three that live there...that jumps all over the furless when they come in the house....and the trainer was great........any pup see this show?

I love the show Me or the Dog. I don't exactly know what episode your talking about but my parents try and watch it. There was one episode with a 3 yr. old boxer and it was hyper when people came to the door and so the trainer had them learn "place". Well I am very nutty when people come to the door - I bark and have to be held by one of my parents since I will jump up on the guests or even run out the door to explore! Well anyway I have been working on "place" for about 3 weeks now. I am excited to report that my mom's consistent effort paid off since today my grandparents came to visit and I stayed in "place" until they came in and didn't move a single paw or bark. They got to come in and sat down then my mom came back treated me and released me from my "place" and I went to go say hello. This is the best part (at least for the guests) instead of jumping up like a nutty lab I pranced over and sniffed them and then got a toy and laid down and just chewed it. My guests were very surprised and happy and my mom was too! They said this can't be Tucker did you get a new lab?

So the training worked and my mom couldn't be happier! I also love the one on one attention from the training since my mom works with me everyday on it! I love to please my mom and I love getting rewards so it is a win/win situation. So this is one success story and it was all due to my parents watching the show "Me or the dog"!

I'm actually a pretty calm yellow labbie... but the dog doc found my thyroid was a little low so for a few weeks now I've been on medication, and my activity level is up. Still, I'm a lot less goofy than a lot of other labs!

Thanks to your inspiration Tucker, mom is going to try to train me also. She always hates when I jump on guests when they come over. Mom said she is very proud of you for being such a good boy!!! applauseapplauseapplause
