Chanel is going through the puppy uglies that I have heard so much about. She is shedding all over the place and has what my husband is referring to as a backwards mohawk, short hair down her back and it sticks straight up on her sides...Anyone have any suggestions on how I can get my beautiful girl through this gracefully? She is looking like a scraggly little thing now and I miss my beautiful fluffy pom frown

Poor baby! cry

There is really nothing you can do but wait it out while her full adult coat grows in. If you cut her hair before it fully grown in, you can permanently damage it.

It only lasts a few months so just wait it out and you will LOVE her big beautiful coat! cheer

Chanel is beautiful, no matter what! What a sweet face! big grin

Thanks for the reply Jazzy. I feel better, talking with some other pom owners they said the same thing, but one lady said her pom's fur never grew back to that big fluffy beautiful coat.

One thing I did get, to help with the shedding, is the new dog comb called "the furminator". It is amazing. I would recommend it for anyone with Poms and other long haired double coated dogs. It works WONDERS. At least now when she sheds, its not like cotton balls over my floor, I just brush her with this once a day and she doesnt shed all over the place.

I hope she gets through this soon....

yeah check into it. its expensive, but it pulls all the loose undercoat right out. its great.

I need some more advice on a product for tear stains. My poor girl has rust colored tear stains forming under her eyes as well...and I have tried a few things from Petsmart with no change in the stains. Any suggestions on a good tear stain product?

Hi Chanel! I am Jazzy's brother, Pooh-Bear! big grin

I have bad tear stains and Mom has not found anything that REALLY works. I used Angels Eyes for a while and mom did see an improvement but in the end, Mom decided the expense and hassle of it was not worth the result but there was an improvement. frown

She wipes my eyes every evening with a damp wash cloth and gives me a teaspoon of nonfat plain white yogurt every day (this is supposed to help with the Ph - whatever). She sees an improvement about like she did with Angels Eyes but for a lot less. smile

Also, be sure your food does not have any dyes or color in it - check the ingredients and do not use stainless steel bowls. Mom got most of this information from the dogster health forum. Just go to it and search tear stains - tons of responses come up. cheer

Sorry, there has been no miracle cure for us. Mom wants to try Eye Envy and will in the near future but everything else has just had a small improvement but the stains are still noticeable.

You may also want to try switching to bottled or filtered water. I think that will help with the tear stains, too.

I LOVE the furminator!!! I can't believe how much fur comes out with it. It's the best thing ever and well worth the cost of the brush.
