Getting Started With Gimp step #1 Zip Files

[note- it may be easier if you highlight all this, then copy/paste it to your computer. Then you can follow along step by step.]

Here's how:
Many pictures and files we share back and forth are “zipped” which is a send/receive method that makes them easier in email.
When you receive a zip file (such as for assignments) you will use your zip product to open them.
Here's a link to get your own "Win Zip" tool

Be sure to follow the download instructions (don’t worry, the trial version is free and although it says trial...well a year later and I still have it.)
When you’re in the WinZip site, look in the yellow section on the left. See the heading Downloads?.....Choose Winzip Self Extractor"... press trial version...and download!
Press only the "Use Evaluation button". Do not register and do not press buy...if you do by mistake go back to the "Use evaluation button" by pressing the "back” button.

There is also a free zip file distributed by the Source Forge site called 7 zip...here is the link... http://www.7-zip.org/
It’s completely free and if you prefer to get this...its will be your choice but we can say that its a reputable site and the zip works great.
