Mommy took me to a very nice place for my first "kennel" experience. It's a nice house on the same lot as the owners house. He has 5 fairly big rooms; one for each of us doggies. He only takes 5 dogs! He walks us and lets us run free in a big fenced in yard every 4 hours until 10pm...then it's bedtime. Mommy arranged to go to the beach for 2 days and leave me there for 53 hours...but who's counting...BOL! Anyway, I did good! The guy said I was a "pleasure" and one of the easiest dogs he has had. OK...so that was MY experience. Now Mommy's:

Worry, worry, worry, pace, pace, heart palpitations, call the owner, check on Sunny, he's taking too long to call me back, text the owner, he's taking too long to text me back, worry, pace, try to have fun, go to the beach, worry, pace, imagine the worst, get nauseas, get text back from owner, feel better (for a little while), worry, call again, text again, want to go home, count the hours until I can go home, I want my dog, I miss my dog, I hope she's ok, drive home (finally!) get the dog, roll around on the floor with her, kiss her face, cry, check her for ticks....whew!

OMD! I have to leave her there again this weekend but this time for only 44 hours. Does anyone have any valium?

Perhaps a web cam would help ease your Mommy's anxiety big grin

She can attach a small one to your collar, you'll look very "Spy-ish" and super cool!
Oh, oh, and maybe one of those shoes that is also a telephone!

And a Utility Belt with spy stuff on it.

And a cape! A super-spy cape!

Of course you'll also need the "Cone of Silence" too.

Too much? happy dance

Mom is picking up Max and myself today. She had originally planned on picking us up yesterday on the way home from Austin - alas, the boarding facility was closed. The Man would not condone her breaking and entering in order to free us.

Mother had to spend a sleepless night alone, without me.

I truly think it is the pawrents who are more traumatized with us being boarded/kenneled then it is us.

Rarely have I come away from a boarding experience traumatized. I swear the humans put more thought and care into where Max and I will be staying than they do their own accomodations!

Which is exactly the way it should be dancing

My people are so paranoid about kenneling me that they haven't left me alone, period. One of them is always around for me. My lady even planned her vacation this year to be one that I could come with her (a long weekend at a camp in the mountains where she can bring me off leash.)

You're right - we doggies tend to deal with these things far better than the peeps.

You're lucky Ben! If I could get over my car-sickness, I might get to go on more overnights. Mom takes me somewhere FUN everytime we go in the car but I still drool like a running faucet. Last night, I got to go swimming at the lake. Mom had to have 2 towels on her lap...BOL!

Stop! Is that a- real word.

Our mommie tries not to use a kennel if at all possible. She arranges for someone to house-sit. So we get to stay in our home, sleep in our beds (or hers! the housesitter can just learn to share) and run in our yard. Doesn't keep her from calling and checking on us 4 or 5 times a day though.

I am still crate trained and mommy would be even more neurotic (as if that were possible) about someone putting me in my crate and leaving. She says only SHE can put me in my crate the right way (double check the entire house for fire hazards, make sure my collar is off, give me a treat,etc...). Hehe...I love you mommy. Sigh.......blue dog

Gosh! Is that the same mommy? All she does for me when she goes away is fill my food and water bowls. You are very spoiled, Sunny.

Sunny - my lady says that once upon a time, she had a Lab/Springer Spaniel doggy that they got as a puppy. When she was a puppy, this dog *always* got carsick like you - drooled like crazy, and occasionally even threw up. But the peeps kept taking her fun places (like the big dog park) and as she grew up, she grew out of being car sick. When she was a grown up doggy, she didn't get carsick anymore.

So there's hope! You and your mommy keep trying!
