Sounds like it would be best to work on this without the other dogs around at first.
Will she retrieve a toy sometimes, like when she wants to play with you with the toy? Does that mean she will get it when you throw it and bring it back?
There are a couple of games you can try with her.
Here's the first one: Tie a short line to her favorite toy. Sit down on the floor and throw the toy a few feet in front of you and when she approaches it begin to drag it back to you. If she sniffs the toy or mouths it encourage her and keep moving it toward you slightly. Hopefully that will encourage her to pick it up in her mouth. If she does put a little tension on the line and call her to you. If she returns all the way to you with the toy in her mouth exchange it for a treat and praise! Keep doing this until she understands the game. Then do it without putting tension on the line, eventually do it without the line. Once she is retrieving you may want to add a cue.
If that doesn't work let me know I can give you several other games to try with her to get her to retrieve.
As you progress with her training you may also find it fun and useful to name her toys so you can put a few out on the floor and ask her to get a particular one.
Asher can help you with the rest much better than I can. Nick is also good at emptying the toy basket, the box of duck bumpers, his decoys etc. I've had no better luck getting him to put them back than I did with my kids. | | | | |
