WELCOME
_____________________________________________ __________
Welcome to Holy Collies! My mum and I were surfing the Dogster forums (particularly the collie forums) and noticed there just aren't enough of us getting active out there! So, we started up this group to try and get you collie owners out of hiding (even though we know you're just busy playing with your fur-buddy. 8D)

ABOUT
_______________________________________________ ________
Holy Collies! is a special group, basically helping Dogster get excited about the Collie again! I haven't the slightest idea how you found us (probably I invited you- or mum did), and I don't mind one bit. We welcome any collies, rough, smooth, (majority) mixes! We'd be happy to have you; if you look like one of us, you are. This is a place for all the active collie owners to hang out on Dogster, since the forums seem to be so empty lately. We have contests, games, and friendly, active members, so stick with us. :]

UPCOMING EVENTS
_______________________________________________________
I want some brainstorms for events for HC, to help get everyone interested, excited and active! I have a few suggestions, so tell me which ones you're interested in. :] These are just "blue prints", and would probably be more like challenges, giving you a week to complete them or somesuch.

Ode to My Collie
A short poetry contest about why you love your collie- serious or silly!

Silly Stills
A funny photo contest- capture the clown in your collie with a silly picture.

Facetious Films
Same as the above; but a funny video; your dog in action!

Tricks and Talents Show
What can your collie do? Sit, stay, fetch you a drink? We want to see!

I just joined, and I totally agree, there is just not enough Collie stuff out there! I grew up with a Collie, I basically learned to walk holding on to that big mane of his. He let me do anything, dress him up, pull him around by the mane, he was by my side everywhere I went. So, when I had my son, I wanted him to have the same magical experience of a Collie too! Which is where my big beautiful sable and white roughy- Ringo Starr came into the picture, and he was for him, every bit like my childhood Buddy. Well, turn the page- my son will start driving this year, and we just lost our big beautiful Ringo last Nov. 07. to basically old age. Our hearts were broken! Still grieving, friends of ours talked us into rescuing a six month old German Shepherd- we don't mind rescuing, but like I said, we were still grieving. Long story short, we looked into her eyes and fell in love-why am I talking about a German Shepherd you ask?... wait there's more...we named her Karma, because she just kind of fell into our lives, (read more on Karma's page). But, OMG! What an intense personality German Shepherds have! We were so used a Collie's personality, laid back, smart goofy and playful all rolled into one! Now here's the thing, Karma led us into finding our two new bouncing baby Collie boys! (read the story, lol, this post is getting long enough, sorry). That's great Karma, don't you think, lol. Now Karma is a little calmer now she thinks she has a job, taking care of the boys. What can I say, I love my GSD, but, I'm a Collie girl, I can't help it. Anyway, glad I found this group, so I can talk collie talk with other collie lovers...I'm learning so much from this breeder...I've had collies it seems for ever, but I'm just now learning about some of the genetics that go into breeding, it's very interesting--like, all this time, I thought Ringo was a Sable and white, when actually he was a Sable Merle. I now have a Blue Merle and an actual Sable and White (my childhood Collie was a Sable and white too) hmm, interesting...I'll start a new thread later and talk about this stuff....
