 | | | | Once a year I use fish emulsion on the garden. It comes in a gallon jug, is available at most well stocked nursury centers and smells nasty. I dilute it with water 2 tbsp to a gallon and water it in good. I guess I could see small fish if you buried them about 6" down to keep away the dog/flies/smell - or even heads and entrails.
Dog poop, human poo, as well as any carnivore poop is a no no on edibles. I agree, I would never eat anything out of that garden.
I've also read that if you have a lined fish pond that the water from the pond is great for plants. Make sure you get up any crud from the bottom of the pond too. When we kept fresh water fish we used to put the water I pulled from the tank onto the plants and they really loved it.
In our garden center they have things like NJ limestone dust, bat guano, dried kelp, fruit pomace. I like to buy a box of something different every time I go in there and work it into the soil to take advantage of the micro-nutrients. Also, if you have a circus come to town sometimes they will let you have exotic animal poop from the non-meat-eaters. | | | | |
