Well! We sure are glad you DON"T know what it is!!!big grin Ever hear of torn knee ligaments? Well, the TPLO is a surgery to fix knees! I just had it done on my left leg, and will probably need it on the right one too!confused In short, the ligaments hold the knee together, and sometimes they break. Then, you have a painful loose dangly knee- it really hurts, and you can't walk on it! So, they cut open your knee, cut the top off your shin bone and reposition it with plates and screws so the thigh bone has a flat level surface to rest upon. Quite gruesome! And, there is 8 weeks of severe restriction, so a pup can heal. I am on day 4 now.......cry

cryMany a pup has gone through it, fur sure! The first days seem to be the worst. Satiba has had it done, too. My swelling is a lot less today, and I am moving the leg a bit. Mom still has to help me walk, not that I want her to, but because I might hurt it by walking on my own. Plus, I could hurt the right one, which is taking most of the strain!! I really like the 'puter room, mom took the legs off our blue sofa so it is real low, and put a mattress in there on the floor and sleeps with me. Of course, Orson has to sleep wherever mom is, so he is in with us too. Mom put a walk-through gate on the door, so I wouldn't get up and wander at night. Plus, once she goes back to work, I will have to stay in here til they get home. I actually am liking it, and everytime mom forces me to go out, I make a beeline to come back in here!!big grin She is undecided if she will let Orson roam the house, or put him in with me. Right now, if he is outside the gate and we are in here, he cries. So she is unsure if it is because he is alone out there, even though he can see us, or if it is mom-seperation!!

Well, like Maven said, I have also done the TPLO thing. Mine was done in March of 2007 and I am all good now. Mom & dad worry about my other leg and make me take it easy so we don't have to go through that again. (Maven I'm crossing my toes you don't have to do the other leg) I now get lifted into the vehicles and sometimes onto the bed. If you check out my site you can see photos of my xray with the pins & plates. I am now known at the Satibanator!laugh out loud
