You don't have to herd to join this group. It is a group for dogs classified in the herding/pastoral groups by kennel clubs. [UK Kennel Club, AKC, etc] And also for others who just love/admirer herding breeds.

Information

Herding dogs that are associated with working cattle, sheep, reindeer and other cloven footed animals are placed into the herding or pastoral group.

FCI Herding Breeds: from Moss.

These are the herding breed accepted by all Kennel Clubs. Obviously not all Kennel Clubs are different so some will accept certain breeds whereas others will not.

Competitions

We have a couple of competitions in the group. Some, like photo competitions, run at certain times in the year. Others such as Dog of the Month run monthly. We also have a couple other on-going competitions just for fun!

Games

We have many active game posts in the group forum; including Hangman, A-Z's, Hit & Give, etc.

Discussions

Discussion posts in the group forum include many helpful and fun topics, such as Tricks and Training Guide, What you herd for fun, Day to Day doggie barking, and many more!

RULES & REGULATIONS

Stay on topic in ALL group Threads.

Do not sabotage conversations between pups.

Do not over-post or obsessively participate. Give other pups a chance to respond & play games.

Do not beg for attention, gifts, administrative privilages, contest votes, etc.

Our ADMINS are here to help answer any and all questions but do not over pawmail any specific member, including ADMINS.

If ADMINS receive complaints about your participation & membership your account will be reviewed. If the ADMINS agree your first offense is a 30 day ban from the group. Second offense is a 1 year ban from the group. Third offense is ban for life.

It is unfortunate that strict rules need to be enforced, but it is for the sake of all members to ensure this is a casual, fun, and exciting environment.

Who CAN join the group & who CANNOT

I have decided to keep the group for herding breeds - there are lots of groups out there for other dogs.

You may only join if you are a herding breed or are a cross with a herding breed. Non-herders are NOT permitted to join the group.

This includes family members. Although we do sometimes overlook family members, and leave them in thegroup.

All non-herders that are currently in the group (24th June 2009) may remain for now but may be removed in the future.

All new non-herder members from now WILL be removed.

Rule change as to who can be a member.

Due to the fact that Dogster as less members than it used to have a new rule as been vote by many Admins and active members.

The new rule is that family members that are not herders can now join as long as there are more herders from that family than there are non-herders.

example:
A 2 dogs family, one herder and one non-herders, both can join.
A 3 dogs family, one herder and 2 non-herders, only one non-herder can join.

This will be a on request only thing.New members or old members can ask for it but it as to be ask,no invitation will be send if it is not ask for.

Due to the fact that the admins mail is not working anymore i did send the pawmail to each active admins (admins who did come at least once in the last 6 months) and to the most active long time members. Most did answer in favor, a few are in favor but say we should be careful and none are against.
