FOX Sports first reported Tuesday that the Green Bay Packers quarterback informed the team in the last few days. ESPN.com said that according to Favre's agent the quarterback told coach Mike McCarthy of his decision.

Free-agent offensive tackle Damien Woody reached agreement with the New York Jets on a five-year, $25.5 million deal that includes $11 million worth of guaranteed money. The first three years of Woody's deal pay him $17.25 million. This comes on the heels of the signing of free-agent left guard Alan Faneca on Saturday as the Jets look to upgrade their offensive line.

The Jets also reached an agreement with linebacker Calvin Pace on a six-year, $42 million deal, with $22 million in guaranteed money. The deal will pay $26 million over the first three years.
