Boston is 10 months old now. Seems like he is sooooo overly tiny. I dont think he ever will grow lol. He is 4.8 lbs and seems in height he is normal but in body he lacks the length he is not as long in body as other paps I have seen. I dont know he seems just to small and frail lol. Just curious if anyone else owns a pap that is overly small?

Bisou is 8 months, and I weighed him Sat. and he weighed 6.5 lbs. He is 10 1/2 in tall. I believe that is tiny, but I think since small dogs are so popular they are trying for smaller dogs. My BF and I saw a 15 yr. old PB Pap at the petstore and she was 18lbs.

Emma only weighs four pounds and she is over two years old. I know that the breeder that I got her from in Riverside, Ca was breeding smaller paps. Everyone still thinks she is a puppy.snoopy

Mila is only 6 months old right now but I 'm pretty sure this is all she will grow. The last time we weighed her she was 5.9 lbs. She is still tiny, but she's is actually just the right size that I like for her. I've noticed from reading about lots of Paps that they have a large range in size. I'm sure that is true for all toy dogs....well, all dogs in general, but I think while you do have a teeny Pap, he is probably just as healthy, and thinks he is just as big, as the next dog!

My smallest adult Papillon is 3.8 lbs. I don't think she is too small. I mean she is small, but I wouldn't say she is 'too' small. She is 9" tall and the standard states they should be from 8-11". I should add that she is very refined.

However, I will admit, 9" is about as small of a Pap as I like for myself. I have a puppy that is 8" tall and I couldn't imagine an adult staying that tiny. This particular puppy is 3 lbs even.

I also have a male who is 4.8 lbs when dripping wet. He is not too small at all. He is 9.75" tall so he is taller than the middle of the standard.

I have Paps of every size and I like them all. My biggest is 9 lbs and he is too big as he is almost 12" tall.

Hehe ya I think Boston will be like you Princess Emma which is fine by me because you are to beautiful.smile Thats cool all the paps at the breeders are 5-8 lbs. 8 being the norm. Dino is 5 months is same height already and weighs more already. So I was just curious if Boston was like crazy small. He is so dainty and fragile looking. Of course Ive had Daisy much longer and she is 11 lbs so shes big for a papillon. I dont care I love them both to peices anyways lol. I wanted a 6 pounder lol thats what the breeder said hed be but I doubt that now. He thinks he is huge though sometimes he is a big nut! He just scares me sometimes because he is so small I worry about him way to much I think. Im like one of those overly protective annoying mothers! laugh out loud Dont hug him to hard he may break haha silly me.

I have 3 Papillons. My second (Toby) sounds very similar to yours. He's almost as tall as my oldest but he's not as long. The last time he was at the vet, he weighed in at 5 lbs 8 oz and he's almost 2. He was the runt of his litter. But he's very precious. So what he lacks in size, he makes up for in personality. Don't worry about the size as long as he's healthy!

I am not a breeder, but just know that in the animal kingdom males of any species tend to be larger/heavier/taller than the females. I'm guessing this is true for Paps. I noticed that most of the respondents in this post were females that were under the 6lb mark.

Bandit is very tall for a Pap (and weighs 13 lbs!) and little Princeton (from a different breeder and whose parents are 6lbs and 8lbs) is 7 months old and already at the 7 lb mark.

When I told the vet the weights of Princeton's sire and dam, he (the vet) said that you can't even rely on that sometimes. That just like with humans, there might be a recessive gene for tallness or whatever on either side of the lineage.

That said, I am hoping that Princeton stays in the 7-8lb area. (Bandit seems to get along best with dogs that are smaller than him)

I'm 14 months old and weighs 5 pounds and 9 ounces. my mom thought i was too skinny since i never finish my food, i get full really easily and start playing and running around before i'm done. When had my yearly checkup at the vet the other day they said i was healthy and wasn't too skinny so i guess that i'm just a small papillon... i think most are bigger than me but i'm not sure.
