THANKS GUYS FOR THE ADVICE!! CHEWY AND I JUST MOVED, AND HE SEEMS TO BE GETTING USED TO HIS NEW HOME! I STILL HAVE A SEPARATE ROOM/AREA FOR HIM SO THAT HE CAN'T DESTROY OTHER PARTS OF THE HOUSE. FROM YOUR EXPERIENCE, DO YOU THINK THIS IS WRONG TO KEEP HIM CONTAINED LIKE THIS WHILE I AM AWAY AT WORK. I FEEL BAD THAT HE ISN'T ABLE TO BE MORE SOCIAL AND ROAM!

absolutely not. My girl is five and still is crated when I'm not around--though it's funny. Now she doesn't have to be crated, but prefers it. When she sees me getting ready for work she runs to her crate and stays there. So I just close it and go on my way. When I've left her out of her crate I've heard her cry and cry. I'm pretty sure (by talking to other owners of same breed) that these pups prefer to have a "safe" place/hidey hole, etc. So don't feel bad...

Hello All!

Missy is a "Mini JAWS", we keep her in "chewbones" because she is worse than a 2 year old child. She wants everything to be in her mouth so she can chew it. lol

Hi All,

We are new to the group, but wanted to add our 2cents about crating. Taz is just 3 months but he loves his crate. He is a very active puppy and prefers to play. But if we aren't home he prefers to be in his little crate that is just his size. We got him a bigger one so he'ld have room to play while we were gone but he hated it. He whined and whined. He even goes into his little crate all by himself at times even when we are home. He seems to feel very safe and content in there.
