I'm totally lost on this one. How to teach it and how to move my legs! Jasmine can walk through my legs if I just stand there, but I think she feels squished if I start moving a little, so she backs out. Also, I feel like she's not really "weaving" my legs, just walking in between them as I walk!! So I don't think I'm doing it right. thinking Help?

It starts with you standing still and Jasmine going through your legs from front and behind. If you are that far, then you are good. Now instead of spreading your legs side to side, spread them front to back as if you just took a really big step forward. Stand still and have her go through that way for a bit. Once she is confident there, start moving, so once she is through your legs and in the process of turning around, take one step forward and give the command go to through again. So you aren't actually "walking" as in one fluid movement, but taking exagerated and punctuated steps, pausing at each step for her to go through. Once she is really confident in that, you can speed it up a bit so it looks more like walking.

I know of two ways to train this. Either have your dog target a stick or yourhand held so she has to go between your legs to touch it or try tossing the treats on the floor between your legs as you walk.

Tossing the food is nice because you can turn that motion into the cue.

Who is your trainer, Belle?

Mine is Ali Brown in Neff, but Neff is not too far from NJ.

Ooohh, Jasmine, I know it has been a while, but I got some new stuff for weaving and it gets pretty neat because the cue winds up being body position. You want to shape it. So here is how it goes.

Get the dog in a heel/stand position. Now, move your right leg a bit in front of the left, knee slightly bent, on the ball of your foot (not quite your tip toes). Look to the right of your leg. It's not easy for me, because Ash is small, but click and reinforce even a head mo9vement in the right direction. Gradually shape the behavior till the dog is going between your legs, then up it to two weaves ect.

If the dog is really not getting it (and Ash usually follows my eye movement, so he did get it) you can use a hand target on the other side of the leg, but fade it as fast as you can because you want the cue to be the leg position.

Whatch some HTM videos and when they start weaving, look at their leg positions.

The hand target really worked best for us b/c it was almost a lure then the cookie reward was dropped in front of the first leg to set up for the next step. We've gotten it to where if I stand with my legs apart Belle will figure 8 but if I step foward on the ball of my right foot she'll go thru and turn to set of for my left. If I step on the ball of my right foot again she'll go thru twice. It looks pretty neat when I mix it up since I don't have to treat each time anymore.

Asher my teacher is Pam Dennison here in NJ. She teaches alot of free shaping. My first teacher was Pia Silvani. I'd like to get back down to her since she teaches freestyle classes. Maybe this summer.

Oh, watch tina in this video. Can we see all the body cues she is giving Chandra?

I'm posting it here because this is exactly the cue I use for leg weaves. It is just the leg position, body language is the only cue.

Wow, that was cool. Me and my pup are retards! Gio and Ash, I got some ideas for the following stunt from Casey and I would like your input as well. There is an ad on tv, I think for America's funniest home videos that shows a yorkie. I saw it ony for a second, but it looked as tho it had its front left paw forward, rear right was back and moving rapidly and looked like it as jogging in place. It was sooo cute and I would like to attempt it with Jet. Anyone know what the ad is for sure and ideas where to start?
