 | | | | 1. Does your mini pin want to eat everything in sight?
I've gathered that this is a bit odd for the breed beyond just dogs in general, but. . . NO. She barely eats enough of her dog food even if it's out all the time (the reason I started looking for better-quality food!), and she'll pass up human food if she doesn't like exactly how it smells, tastes, or feels in her mouth. (And then she'll beg for more of it. She LOVES bananas until she gets a piece. )
2. How much does your mini pin weigh?
According to last week's vet trip, she's 9.1 lbs. She seems like a big min pin until you put her with her littermate sister (my parents' dog) who weighed 13.8. Both are purebreds and a perfectly normal weight for their size, if not borderline underweight (see #1) in my dog's case. . . someone's just a *very* big girl.
3. Does any one's mini pin not like little kids?
It varies depending on her mood when she meets them -- tired is never good. She's not much on strangers in general, although all she does is bark and growl as soon people invade her ~5-feet bubble until they back off. Given an hour or so, she's associated little kids with extra people food on the floor (either unintentional or intentionally sneaky) from some of my relatives who visited when she was a puppy. . . so they're okay once they've met on her terms.
4. Does your mini pin get confused for a chihuahua?
Sometimes, although my favorite was when someone thought she looked like a very tall dachshund. Most people just don't know what she is. (This may have something to do with her being rather large for a chi?)
5.Whats your mini pins personality like?
She's part cat, part human, and part insane. She loves attention, but it has to be when she wants it. Don't even try to catch her to pick her up or put her on your lap unless you have a treat -- it'll never work. Once you have her, don't sit down or the squirmy little girl will be gone in 10 seconds. On the other hand, she loves to snuggle when she's either cold or sleepy. . . I spend a lot of time on the couch with a min pin curled up in my arm because she often will hop up and tell me she wants "her spot". If she doesn't have a good reason to get out of bed before 10:30 or 11 in the morning, she probably won't. Rabbits, squirrels, people, dogs, sometimes blowing leaves, etc. outside are something that really need to be barked at. . . I'm just weird and mean for telling her not to. When visiting my parents, she likes to flaunt whatever she has that her sister might want by sticking it out right in front of her nose and walking by her all the time until they have to start fighting over it. She loves to walk around on only her back feet every now and then when appropriate to compensate for being too short, or else she can jump high enough to pull anything off a standard countertop less than 1" away from the edge. . . this happens a lot when she gets bored and I'm not paying enough attention to her because she's figured out that'll get me to notice. | | | | |
