 | | | | OK....here's the info on the quilt squares:
1. You can sew one if you want...but no sewing is actually required.
2. All you need is a piece of fabric. 100% cotton fabric works best....but any sort of fabric will do. If you have a favorite old blankie that you'd like to share with Spike...cut out a square. If you don't want to buy new fabric, use an old sheet or pillow case, or an old pair of jeans...whatever you have around the house.
3. The square should be 10 inches on each side. If you are hesitant to cut out a 10" square, send a larger one, and mama will cut it to the right size. Just make sure any decoration you put on it fits inside the center 9 inches (see #7 below)
4. If you wash the fabric, do it BEFORE you cut out your square. Cotton fabric shrinks in the wash...so if you cut a 10" square, decorate it, then wash it.....you will end up with a 9" square.
5. Decorate your square any way you wish. Use fabric paint to paint designs, messages, etc. Make sure you are using FABRIC paint (available at craft stores, most fabric stores, craft departments at places like Walmart). You could let your mama paint one of your paws, and put your paw print on the square (Note: if you have lots of fur on the bottoms of your feet like me....trim the fur first...otherwise, you'll just get an unrecognizable paint blob...) If you have an old, de-stuffed, de-squeaked toy that Spike sent you, that you are not playing with anymore.....attach the "remains" to a quilt square! If you absolutely can't sew....you can send the "body" along with your quilt square, and mama will sew it on for you. Don't put anything too bulky on the quilt square, though....no one likes a lumpy blanket....not even Spike. If you have an idea for a quilt square that you are not sure will "work" or not sure how to do it....p-mail me.
6. Put your name somewhere on the square, so Spike will know whose square it is. If you want, mama will paint your name on it for you with a paint pen. Any squares we get without names...mama will put names on. If you have a nickname or other "special" name that you and Spike use....let me know, so we put the correct name on the square.
7. MAKE SURE YOU LEAVE AT LEAST ONE INCH ON EACH SIDE OF THE 10" SQUARE WITHOUT DECORATION! Otherwise, part of your design will get sewn into the seam of the quilt, and will not be visable.
8. Allow at least 24 hours for any paint to dry...then send your quilt square to me at this address:
