It would be nice if they could come up with a feline version that could last for a few years. It could be a real boon to humane groups who have TNR programs.

I don't see any advantage to using it on pets, though. confused

It could be useful to people who show. Or sled dog owners. Or about any working/show dog owner. However...

why would a pet owner want to use it??

Ever hear about women forgetting to take their pills? Well, one day, a dog owner might forget to give his dog his birth control.. and, he might get to the neighbors french poodle. Not a chance I'd be willing to take.

Good point, Lilo. Still, it would be useful for breeders who are "growing out" a potential breeding dog.

Well, everyone makes a good agruement. We get client in that forget to continue their pets medication let allow some birth control. However, I do get a lot and I mean a lot of male clients that are attached to their dogs testes. I mean I think they take it somewhat personally when we talk about nuetering a dog, like we're taking away his manhood.Dogs (or cats for that matter) do think they way we do they mate to repoduce they don't mate for pleasure so it isn't like they get angry or upset at the owner for having them nuetered (although some may think they do), they go on living theirs lives. I can understand the arguement about ecollars because some owner do have trouble keeping them on their animal or the dog finds a way around the cone. I think this birth control could be a good investment for some owners but I am not sure that the owner that has a problem paying $90 for a nueter will ever agree to birth control that cost more.
