December 23, 2007: FIDO

Breed: Pharaoh Hound
Gender: Male
Age: 9 months old
Location: Hurst TX
Neutered/Spayed: Yes

Profile last updated on 12/7/07

STORY: Fido is a cute young male (under 10 months) pharoah hound mix, he is currently around 40 lbs, around a foot and a half tall and not expected to get much bigger, plays well with others to include people and pets, and is a total sweetheart. He is truly a character that was taken in by the good people at one of LBR's vet clinics for the last 3 months. He is current on all vaccinations, neutered, heartworm neg and on prevention, flea/tick medication, and has an overall clean bill of health. He has had limited amounts of one on one attention/training and is desperately in need of his forever family. With the holidays it's getting even more challenging for BSAC to keep him and his solutions don't seem promising at all since they have a limited audience to get the word out that Fido needs a good home. If you can please help Mr. Fido avoid a very bad future please contact BSAC Jeanne at 817-457-7387 or LBR Volunteer Jania at 817-703-3992hug

STORY: Whisper has to have a new home. Whisper's mum, who loves her very much, cannot keep her anymore. She's far too clever at getting out of the yard. If you, or anyone you know is looking for a fun, clever, loving pet, please contact Dakabin RSPCA shelter on Ph: (07) 3886 0357 . She's desexed, vaccinated, microchipped and well trained - she just needs a secure garden to play in! Very sociable with other dogs, no cats. hug

January 6, 2008: LOUIE

Breed: Yorkshire Terrier
Gender: Male
Age: 9 years old
Location: Adoptable within 300 miles of Baton Rouge, LA
Neutered/Spayed: Yes
Special Needs: Cataracts that have resulted in blindness

Profile last updated on 12/17/07

STORY: His owners dropped him off at the pound because they didn't have time for him. His nails had not been cut in years; they were so long they had turned sideways. His hair had matted into doggie dreadlocks. He was covered in fleas, and he was quite stinky! Now Louie is all cleaned up and back to his old ways, sleeping on his very own pillow. He has cataracts in both eyes and is pretty much blind. He has a very slight bit of vision in his left eye. Other than his vision, he is surprisingly healthy. His owners may not have bathed him, but they kept him up to date on his shots and heartworm prevention. Louie weighs 8 pounds. He gets along with other dogs and children, but he does not like cats. He is house trained, he knows how to go outside all by himself. Can you give little old Louie a loving home for the holidays? Email gypsysmamie@yahoo.com for adoption information, or visit his petfinder site at http://search.petfinder.com/petnot e/displaypet.cgi?petid=9834606

Louie is good with kids, other dogs and prefers a home without cats.

STORY: We had attempted to adopt a dog from our local shelter and had just not found the right one. My mother had told me about this type of breed and I checked them out and fell in love with them!! We got Cupcake when she was three months old, and she was an instant part of the family, our youngest daughter first real word was cupcake! The only reason that we are trying to adopt her out is because my grandfather came back to the states and is in failing health we are his full time care givers and the dogs are getting the short end of the stick at this point and it is just not fair to them.puppy

How precious they are. I wish I had room for all of the dogs that need a home. I have 4 now and 3 are rescues. I will pass the listing on to my "dog" friends. Good luck and lots of kisses.

Love,

Norton, Ralph, Trixie, Fred and Toby

January 27, 2008: WREATH

Breed: Cairn Terrier
Gender: Female
Age: 8 years old
Location: Ohio
Neutered/Spayed: Yes

GOOD with other dogs!

Col. Potter Cairn Rescue was alerted to 7 dogs being surrendered by a breeding facility. When our representative got there 11 dogs were turned over. Wreath has a pretty severe problem with yeast on her skin and has some hair loss along with elephant skin due to the yeast. She also has a severely infected ear. I recently fostered a 3 y/o dog that I think was Wreath's daughter. Scoop was adopted so I'm so pleased to be able to take care of her mommy now. If you're interested in adopting Wreath then go to www.CairnRescue.com and find her by clicking on the Available Cairns page.

She started going potty outside within 24 hours of arriving in her foster home. Shortly after that she started presenting herself to her foster mom or dad to collect her fair share of the goodies for pottying outside like a good girl!hug

GOOD with other dogs and kids!

Hi!! I'm a one-year old bundle of energy named ROXIE. My foster mom says I remind her of Tigger from Winnie the Pooh, because I'm a wonderful thing, and my bottom is made out of springs. I don't know about that, but I know it's really hard to sit still when there are so many exciting things to do! I have 3 foster siblings, and we play a lot, especially my lab sister, Bella. We like to wrestle and play tug. She is twice as big as me (I weigh 34 lbs), but I'm faster and we have lots of fun. I didn't used to know about toys, but Bella showed me where the toy box is, and now I can get them out any time I want. I taught myself to fetch by watching her, and I surprised my mom by bringing her a ball to play fetch. I've learned a lot of things in my foster home I learned to potty outside, and to sit for treats, and to stay inside the invisible fence. Now I can go outside without a leash, but sometimes when I'm running real fast, I have to turn around pretty quick and end up doing a somersault instead. They laugh at me a lot! Where I used to live, I didn't know much about people, and I'm still pretty skittish, especially around men. When I get too nervous about people coming to the house, I just go to my crate it's safe there, and my Corgi brother Reilly stands guard. I don't spend as much time in my crate as I used to I am learning to watch when the other dogs think it's safe, and then I can sniff around. Now I will even take treats from my foster dad, but usually not from strangers. I need to live with someone patient, who will let me get used to them slowly. It would be great it they had another dog or 2, too, because if I don't understand something, I can learn from watching them. The best thing is if my humans would give me treats and butt-skritches. I like those a lot. And I need stuff to chew , my favorite is Nylabones, since I'm not allowed to chew the furniture. I like to carry around underwear and socks, and sometime they end up in my crate or in the living room. They tell me setters are good bird dogs, but I like catching fireflies better. I am pretty good at jumping up to get them. Because I'm a good jumper, I don't think little kids would like me very much. I think an active family with older children would like me a lot, though, because my mom says I'm silly and I learn things pretty fast. I like to go for walks, and after a walk I don't jump as much. Sometimes I just get excited, though, because everything is so much fun! Are you ready to have fun with me?hug

STORY: Sweet little Kissi, she has not known the good life in her time here, she want so bad to be someone's friend, but she is just not sure about those two legged things, they have not been nice to her. Still in true doggy fashion she is very accepting and sweet, she was born around May and is about 15lbs, she is pretty rough looking now but will clean up nicely. She is spayed and up to date on shots and ready to go to a lifelong loving home great with other dogs. Her adoption fee is $75.

Let's find her a home!hug
