Hey guys. My puppy friend wants to join an agility class and her mom and my mom don't know much about it. We would love to hear some stories of how people got started and if they compete and all the other great things. Do you think i'm too old to do it?thinking I'm ten and in good shape... sure sounds like fun.snoopy

Mum used to drive past a park on the way to her horse and they would be doing dog classes, obedience and agility, so when she got me she started taking me there, she'd seen agility on the TV and said when she got her 1st dog she'd like to try. I wasn't the best dog at agility, I started competing when I was about 5 years old, I got several clear rounds over the years and retired the end of last year at 11 years old because I've gone deaf. Mum has Bertie and Teagan that she competes with and will hopefully start competing with Skye later this year. Bertie won mum out of Elementary about 3 years ago and Teagan won mum out of Starters 2 years ago, they have changed the grades this year and they are both in grade 4 and Skye will start in grade 3. Watch out, agility is addictive!!!

I'm (hopefully) starting agility this spring or summer! Most of the training centers around here required CGC certification as a prerequisite for agility classes, so I had to go get my CGC first. I hope I'm good at agility! All I know is that I am SUPER FAST!!!

Mom's been kind of preparing me for agility by teaching me some stuff that may help me out. For example, she's been working on targeting/touch because she hears that's an important thing to know. She also takes me to the playground behind our house and lets me practice jumping over hurdles, walking across bridges, etc. so that the agility equipment won't scare me!

I can't wait to start!
