Hi everyone! Our little guy is 4 months old and weighs less than 5 lbs right now and he is about 11" tall at the shoulders. His dad is a toy size (Toy Boy of Peyton) and his mom is a miniature (Wiebelhusky's Fiona). We're trying to predict how big he will get (miniature or toy?). So how big was your pup at 4 months and how big is he/she as an adult? Any information will be appreciated!

Hey Helix,

Kiffin isn't full grown yet but it can give you something to compare to. He is also 4 months and is currently weighing in at almost 7lbs and he is 13'' tall at the shoulder. Both of his parents are mini's and we are pretty sure that he will be a mini as well.

We were also told by our vet that most dogs are at about 70% of their weight and size by about 16 weeks (4 months) and than grow into the other 30% by the time they are a year old. Hope this information helps.

Thanks Kiffin! Helix is off to the vet today for his rabies shot, so we're going to get him weighed and everything there. We think he'll end up being a mini, but a small mini- you never know though!

Oops, we were a little off with his weight! Turns out he's almost 8 lbs right now (he sure doesn't seem that big). He was born October 31, so he's well over 16 weeks though.

Ruby is three months old and only five pounds now, but her legs are sprouting like weeds. Even though her dad is a toy and mom is a mini, the breeders (who have been at this for a long time) say she will probably be a small standard. Of her litter they said there is one toy, one mini, and two standards. They said they could tell by almost four weeks old what they each would be. If Ruby ends up as a standard she will be around twenty pounds and 15 to 17 inches tall when she is full grown.

Thanks Ruby! Helix hit his growth spurt around 4 months and hasn't really increased in height (his legs became so tall and skinny!) very much since then. We talked to his breeder and they felt he would be on the large size of a mini, around 14 to 15 inches tall. At just over 5 months now, he weighs about 9 lbs and is about 13-14" tall. So he'll probably get a bit bigger, but not much! He's definitely filling out though with his adult coat in place and he's developing more of a dog look and losing that puppy cuteness- now he just looks very regal and elegant prancing around and striking poses smile

One other thing, I recently read that most AKK are 70% of their full size after six months. It takes another six months for them to hit their full adult size. I hope that helps.

When measuring their height, do you measure to their shoulders or to the top of their heads?

I think that to determine height you always measure to their shoulders. smile

Yeah that's what we were told. Only to the shoulders. Right now we are trying so hard to find a male to breed Pebblez with. We choose not to spay her right away because we wanted more of this breed. There a very few in Canada. From what we've seen, the only breeder in Canada has now decided not to accept applications for litters anymore. So maybe it's going to be hard to find this breed in Canada now. DO any of you know anyone in Canada that breeds Alaskan Klee Kai's or that has a male that could breed? cheer
