Does anyone elses springer howl or "sing" when they get excited? Does anyone have any tricks how to tone it down a bit? It gets annyoning because they get the other dogs riled up. Then everyone else gets upset. Any Ideas

Not me, I have a problem of just rudely barking in other dogs/humans faces when I'm playing. Right now I get squirted with the water bottle....ughhh!! I hate the water bottle.

EXCITED!!! Does that have anything anything at all to do with say a ball... balls I love balls I can't get enough of them... And if I put it in your lap all wet and smelly and you don't look down or look at me I will simply let you know it is there by telling you in my inside voice (which will wake the dead!) I have been told to shhh, to be quite, to shut up. Oh and yes I do have a friend, the water bottle, nice guy good for a drink when you are all worked up and to get that tennis ball taste out. I think I have won the battle... now I just get the ball thrown for me. I think it might be because mom is half deaf from me. I find it really fun to take balls into bed and try this game after mom has been asleep for about 20 minutes Tons O Fun!!!

So yes we do have a problem with being a bit loud and out of control but on the flip side the neighbors are too far away to hear him.(But he is a springer) So most days I don’t care that he barks and makes HUGE messes inside and outside. I do now that I am counting the days until we can open camp back up and he can spend his weekends in the lake and really tuckering himself out so when we get home he is sleeping all of Monday and if we are really lucky most of Tuesday as well!

Out of the five springers in our family, only one does the springer howl. It's only once a day, outside and at night. I love to hear it. It's a true springer trait. The only other time she barks is when a stranger approaches our house. My little one doesn't bark, whine or howl. I'm hoping she will pick up the howl, one day.

I only howl when I hear sirens or other dogs howling. I do it quite beautifully so I'm told. But I can bark as loud as anypup and Mom says the only way to tone it down is me on one side of the back door and her on the other! silenced

Watson sounds like Chewbacca when he talks. It's so funny! He's especially loud when we get home from work. Usually giving him dinner helps to quiet the talking.

I didn't know they sang - what a great treat I have coming for me.

He has tried the howl, when he was first put in the crate, and it sounded so funny to me. I have only heard Sugar do it 2x since, both when I was working and he was in the crate and he was thirsty. So I suppose, Sugar only howls when he has an extreme need to be met. So far.

He does talk a lot, to me, to his toys, in his sleep.
