I've wanted a dog my entire adult life...(and I'm in my early 50's!)

So, while I waited for my dream to come true, I thought up pages & pages of names for my future dog (that's if i ever GOT one...) I had names for females, males, little dogs, big dogs, cutesy names & tuff dog names...

My dream finally came true on September 23, 2005 in the form of an 8-week old, male Maltese puppy.

I named him: Bam-Bam

(It's from "The Flintstones", a cartoon from my childhood). It was cute (like Bam-Bam himself), short & snappy, and not too common.

I love his name, but Bam-Bam could care less: because when I call him he only comes when & if he feels like it ! All that work for nothing...Oh well !
SO, HOW DID YOU DECIDE ON YOUR DOG'S NAME?

Mochi was named after the ice cream because when he was a puppy he was very small and when he rolled up into a ball he looked like Mochi icecream.
MeiRen Secor

I am my own dog.

MeiRen was named by my cousin WangWang's dad who lives in China. The name means "beautiful person" in Chinese.

A couple of days before bringing our Miniature Dachshund home, we still hadn't thought of a name! Luckly though, while wathching the movie Uncle Buck, we learned that the names of the children were Miles and Maizey. At that instant, we knew "Maizey" was the perfect name for our soon to be puppy!

Well,
My mom and I were at Petsmart and saw the little puppy in a tiny carrier. I just had to hold him and when he opened his eyes I couldnt let him go when I saw that pretty green/brown color I just needed him in my life!
So on the way home I said "he looks like a buster!' So that was his name for a few hours. Then I said "How about Baxter!' So that was his name throughout the night. But then the next day we just new that wasnt right.
So we looked for dog names on the internet and the name "Harley" was in a list and I just knew that was his name!puppy

I had been looking for a name that would fit my puppy and have meaning. I also wanted something that wasn't a common name. After searching for what feels like forever- I found Mikito-Japanese for prince. I feel in love with it immediately and I knew my search was over.
Tucker

I'm 4 pounds of- cuteness!

Before Captain and Tucker, my dogs had Italian names. My sister and I had a silky terrier that we loved dearly growing up. His name was Gino. After Gino passed, I adopted a pekingese/maltese mix from a local shelter and named her Giana, in Gino's honor. When I moved to Houston I left Giana with my sister, and adopted Captain. His name fit his personality so well I decided to keep the name. Two and a half weeks ago I adopted Tucker from Animal Control. I couldn't think of a name for him, until my sister suggest Tucker. She thought it would be a good name because he was cryptorchid, meaning one teste didn't descend. Kinda sick, but totally cute name! Plus, it makes me think of my sister who I miss.
Minnie Hidalgo

Whiz Kid

I put names in a bucket and let my 2 year old pick one. That's how she got Minnie (after Minnie Mouse). That's how we've named all our pets. Me and my husband never could agree on a name.
Cricket

Wwoooo . . .

I got "an un-named puppy" from a breeder. When I went to see her, she was shy and walked up to us to be cuddled. She was that way the entire 1 1/2 hour car trip home. As soon as we got home, we put her down on the grass in the yard. All of the sudden, she started hopping around like a jackrabbit. We couldn't catch her. She reminded me of the crickets that we fed our leopardgecko (hop, hop, hop -- heaven forbid if we had to catch one that escaped). Cricket was the perfect name for her.
