I was supposed to be a show dog (or at least that's what my mom tells me). So my registered name is La Femme Nikkita--kinda cool right! My dad was a high ranked show dog that made it all the way to Westminster. But I think I have a much happier life just being a couch potato rather than walking around in circles all day.

Its good to be here. Look forward to hearing from the rest of you.

My mom wanted me to have a Japanese name - so, she researched names online. My name means 'snow child' so it fit, what with me being a malamute and all.

Our first Malamute, Kodi, was short for Kodiak's Auld Lang Syne. 'Kodiak' came from Kodiak Island, AK. The 'Auld Lang Syne' was because we got her on New Years Eve.

Our current pup, Maysie was VERY difficult to name. We scoured the Internet for dog names, particularly Malamute names and nothing seemed right or was too difficult to say when giving a command. Her AKC name is McKinley's Misty Cloud Nimbus. McKinley and Nimbus were possible names for her, but they didn't seem to fit as well as Maysie. Misty Cloud is the name of the kennel where she was born.

My Mommy said that I looked like a Max. My full name Maxzilla didn't come til later when Mom realized I'm big enough to destroy Tokyo! Also I will eat anything just like Godzilla. Now people think that my name is funny and fitting.

I got my name because my mom named me after a dog that she grew up with. My full name is Kobuk after the Kobuk Valley in Alaska.

My little brother is named Kenai after the Kenai Pennisula in Alaska, after all he is half Alaskan Malamute so he got a Malamute name too!!

Mom and Dad wanted to try and stay around American Indian type names because all my ancestors had those type of names. Dad likes eagles too. Dad wanted "Takoma" and Mom wanted to keep it down to 2 syllables. Mom came up with "Takoma Soaring Eagle" to register me and Dad came up with "Toma" for short. But when Mommy gets upset with me, she calls me "Takoma". hee hee hee

My mom and dad always thought they'd name a puppy Misty, but my breeder said that was no name for a Malamute. After searching the internet for Alaskan names, they found Aurora. I was named after the Aurora Borealis and the princess from Sleeping Beauty. The full name comes from the Inuit for Beautiful and Little so my full name is Beautiful Little Light.

Before I came to live here, my name was Elfin. What kind of name is that? Momma says I'm named "Miso" because when my full winter coat is in I am almost the color of miso soup. Also, when she's having a bad day a nice hot cup of miso is her ultimate comfort. She says hugging me makes her feel the same way the soup does!
