Hi,

We're from Northwestern Illinois in a small town called Wonder Lake. And Wonder Lake was a man-made lake back in the 1920's and they damned a stream which flooded the shallow river flood plane and made a roughly 800 sq foot lake. We've been living out here...and I say out here because it's close but far from the metropolis of Chicagoland...for 2 and a half years.

My husband and I were married for almost a year and had been living w/his parents while we saved for a house. In Jan of '04, we started searching and we almost didn't go see this little house because I said it looked like a dump on the listing sheet. But my husband really wanted to see it because it had a 3 car garadge. So, we drove all the way out there, about 30 miles on a very bitterly cold January evening. As soon as we pulled up to the house, I knew it was the one. It was just so warm and cozy looking after the long car ride. The picture hadn't done it justice. We decided to put in an offer that night. We were accepted and about 3 weeks later moved in.

So...I say all this because later that following summer I picked up a little phamplet about the history of Wonder Lake and in it was the date that the first water started to flow over the damn after they finished construction....it was February 22....our wedding anniversary. Isn't that ironic?

Wonder Lake sounds charming! And San Francisco for Bob-hey, are you anywhere near the Parrots of Telegraph Hill?? We're in Sarasota, FL on the mainland between Lido Key and Siesta Key, so our world famous white sand beach is less than 5 mins away and the Bayfront is even closer. Sarasota is on the Gulf side of FL about 1/2 way between Tampa and Naples. Fortunately, Hurricane Ernesto fizzled out and didn't come anywhere near us!

Hi,
I am Patricia.
I'm French but I have been living in Italy, Tuscany in a little town called Calenzano near Florence for 23 years.
I am 46 years old and so far I passed half of my life in each country - France and Italy !!!
I went in Italy for love !!! This love gone away ....
I remained the same in Italy, and I found another love ...
and my beloved furkid Teo, the love of my life ...
I'm so sorry for my English but I don't know very well the grammar (verbs !!! oufff !!! it's a big problem !)
For me it's a pleasure to be in your group because I know that you understand me ...
My pain is so big ... Teo was everything for me ...
Now I leave you ... I have to go to the Teo's garden where is buried .
A lot of kisses for everyone.
Pat

Hi Bob- The Parrots of Telegraph Hill is a book and movie about a quasi-homeless musician/handyman who works for an older woman on Telegraph Hill in exchange for living in her guest apt. He chronicles his relationship with a flock of wild Cherry headed Conure parrots that like to hang out on his porch and it becomes a book and movie. I found both very entertaining and a different kind of story. It's on DVD in the video stores now. Telegraph Hill is somewhere in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Hi Patricia, I planted the Zoya Memorial Citrus Grove next to the Kazpurr Memorial Butterfly Garden for my two furbabies. I put a garden bench between them and Howi and I like to go sit on it together. He misses Zoya too, but he is now best friends with Annie.

I think it is awesome that Teo and Zoya's earthly remains have been so honored. As an avid gardner I am never more at peace then when I am working in my flowers. To know that my beloved babies were there with me would only enhance that.

Patricia, I think your English is charming! Just reading the way you 'speak,' I can almost hear your accent!

I live in Akron, in Northeast Ohio. We're about 40 miles south of Cleveland. My dream retirement home is a house near/on a lake but that doesn't include Lake Erie! Actually, my husband and I would like to live someplace warmer in the winter.

Annie, I've been to Clearwater, FL but I've always wanted to visit Sarasota. Is that anywhere near Turtle Bay?
