I don't huntfrown My human dad has never hunted. He brought me into his family hoping that he'd learn to hunt. But he just doesn't have time. He's coaches youth sports.
Hmmmm thinking I wonder how i would do out there. I point at scented pheasant wings in the back yard that my humans hide.
But if i never get the opportunity to hunt, that's okay. With 5 human brothers and sister around, i get plenty of exercise and fun.

YES I HUNT!! Love it, love it, love it....when are we going? I'm best at upland game birds....I am pretty good at ducks if mom is jump shooting them...I don't sit in a blind ---- too cold for mom and too boring for me!

I LIVE TO HUNT! See some of my quail pics at the home page for the Dogster group "Hunting Dogs Rock." I'm very modest. But my hunting human has lots of friends with bird dogs (other breeds, of course). They say I'm the best! We hunt quail in Baja, Mexico, every fall & winter. But--this year there are NO BIRDS! cry No rain, no bugs, no birds. Oh, well. Wait 'til next year!

We don't hunt waterfowl too often. The first time I retrieved a duck, my human & his friends were laughing so hard they could hardly stand up. I guess they thought it was funny that I pushed that ol' duck to shore with my nose instead of carrying it in my mouth. But I didn't like the way it tasted & didn't want it in my mouth! applause

I do not hunt. My owners are retired but when they were younger they used to hunt all the time. I am actually a distant relative to their other dogs.

Many years ago my owner had a beautiful female GSP (their 1st one) who was excellent hunter. I heard she was so good that she used to help out hunters who did not have a dog. When she retired from hunting she decided to have a family. They kept one of her puppies and like mother like daughter her daughter was also a great hunter. By the way, her husband is my great great great grandfather. I guess that is why I look just like her daughter.

I have some hunting instincts. I lift my paw and point when I see a bird or animal but thats about it. I prefer retrieving a ball then a bird. I also do not like to get up too early. I get cranky when I have to get up earlier then 8am.

Plus, I like to lay out and sunbathe during the day. I also do not know how to swim. Do you have to be a good swimmer in order to be a good hunting dog?

I guess the only part about bird hunting that I do miss is the meeting other dogs and running around with them. That could be fun. I try to get my owners to walk me around the neighborhood but they prefer to open the back door and let me run around the backyard on my own. The good thing is that it is a very big backyard so I do get my exercise.
