I am getting my hair done today! Mom says I am way overdue for a due..... Because I play so much we have to stay pretty short. Mom does our hair herself. We have a full grooming salon in our garage just for us. Yes, we are lucky poo's wink Mom said she is going to keep us about 1 inch long. She shaves our faces and feet too. We are really good when we get our hair done. We love it. I guess its because mom started us off so early in life. We just love being pampered! Arrow, Do you like getting your hair done??? Who does your hair??

Hi, mom does all of our hair to, we all love it, although I don't like having my feet shaved. It tickles. Mom loves changing our hair styles frequently, and why not? Our hair grows so darn fast. It took her a long time before we started to look like we were groomed professionally instead of looking like we had an accident with a lawn mower. People often ask mom why we have haircuts poodles around her don’t usually have (such as the continental and town and country), but it’s because mom likes to try out new things and why have a commonplace cut when you don’t have to? She is even trying out a mustache on Schopenhauer, but we don’t know if we like it or not yet, it makes his elegant long face look shorter. She likes grooming us so much, that’s why I make sure and get extra dirty (I’m white) so she gets to do it more than she should have to.

Arrow has been cut down to a utility cut. Very short on the body with just his top and ears. I think, though that I will grow bracelets on him, I think it has a name, but it elludes me now.

Our Hair dues came out nice. Mom spent all day grooming. She was a grooming fool. By the time the day was over she was pooped. This is how her day went:
Shave Maxx's face (#10) and feet (40)
Dremmel nails down
Ears (Pluck and clean)
Shave butt and privates and band tail
Wash Maxx 2x
Condition Maxx
Dry Maxx with force dryer until almost dry
Put Maxx in cage with dryer

Shave Molly's face
Shave Molly's feet
Shave Mollys butt and privates
Do Molly's ears (pluck and clean)
Wash Molly 2x
Conditon Molly
Force Dry Molly untill almost totally dry
Put Molly in cage with dryer

Shave Tex (Rottie/Shep x)
Clip Tex's nails
do Tex's ears
Wash Tex 2x in his "special" shampoo
Condition Tex
Force Dry Tex until almost dry
Put in Maxx's cage with Dryer

Maxx comes back out
Got his face, feet, and sanitary, touched up
Fluff out hair by spraying "Fluff Out" on him and fluff drying him
Take a 1" Comb attachment (w/ #40 blade underneath) all over his body.
Scissor body, legs, tummy, tuck ups, and around feet
Scissor top knot and Tail
Trim Ears about 2"
And a spritz of perfume

Pull Molly back out
Do the same thing exactly to her that was done to Maxx

Put Ronin (the 140 lb. Rottweiler) in tub
Clip nails
Clean ears
Wash 2x
Condition
Force Dry until almost dry
Put in Cage w/ Dryer

Put Genie (120 lb. Rottweiler) in tub
clip nails
Do ears
Wash 2x
Condition
Force Dry until almost dry
Put in cage with dryer

Pull Tex out (Rottie/Shepx)
Fluff up with Force Dryer and rake (he has thick undercoat)
Shave w/ #10 Blade.

Pull Rotties out and Brush them.

Mom was pooped, and we were pampered smile Until next weeks grooming and we do it all again.....

Have any of you ever used a 5/8 or a 7/8 blade on your poodle feet?? Mom's friend told mom that she started using those on feet and loves it. Just curious.....

I am a home groomed spoo too smile I like to be brushed out but I am not crazyabout my shower. I used to slip around and slide. Mom brought me home when I was 9-10 mo old. My baths before then must have not been much fun. Mom got me a rubber mat for the shower and I hope that will make me less afraid. We got a new grooming table in the mail. I am still getting used to it. My favorite is laying on the floor and getting brushed.

My Mom wants to learn how to groom - she says I'm expensive enough as it is! BOL! Well - SHE'S the one who always gives the shop people money when I take a toy - not ME! I just TAKE IT! She pays a little extra for my raw foods at Whole Foods - but since I eat 1/2 kibble it's not too bad. (Kibble and yogurt for breakfast - raw pieces - usually chicken necks and backs - or meaty lamb bones - for lunch and dinner)

Anyway - Mom has trimmed around my eyes - between the pads of my feet and a bit on the top knot cuz it started falling in my eyes. She also cut off some things she calls "dreds" that show up once in a while - mostly around my collar.

We like the "sport" cut too - and Mom leaves the fur on my feet ('cept for trimming between the pads some) since I am a service dog in training - she hopes that we can protect my feet with Musher's Secret and just leaving the fur on - I DO NOT LIKE BOOTS!

Any tips on how to learn to trim?

Ha I guess I am lucky dancing ...I first off recived Rosie for free/gift as my mother is Standard Poodle Breeder...and I also get Free Grooming as She (my mother) Owns her own Dog Grooming Buisness- The Velvet Paw-Pet Spa...I do give her baths and Dry her with an HV dryer on my own and can to face, feet(kindof), and tail! But Still Find leg Scissoring hard confused ...I usually get her done in a Lamb Cut...A #4 up to 3/4" HT blade on the Body and blend into 2-3 inches on the leg. Ive also tried the Miami/Bikini Clip-with large pom pons and a #4 on the body...but only once! LOL! She usually gets a bath about every 1-2 weeks. Nails clipped before every bath...Polish and bows when ever....way to go

My Mommie grooms me and she does a pretty darn good job ! I love to be groomed except when she tries to trim my back feet. I jerk around when she tries to trim them but she eventually makes me be still so she can make me beautiful. My Mommie bought all her grooming stuff from a wholesale place off the internet so she has some very nice equipment. She loves to have my face really short so she can kiss me alot all over my face and my neck......she loves doing this and it does feel good so I let her. big grin I have steps up to my grooming table and my Mommie gives me treats when I go up there without her having to beg me. I love being brushed but I really don't care for the baths. I'm getting better though. After my baths I usually beg to go outside to play so I can get dirty again. My Doberman brother and sister thinks I smell funny after my bath....my Mommie says I smell like coconut.....she loves to hug me real tight when I smell good. I get groomed once a week and a bath every 3-4 weeks. I am only 9 months old so I still have my puppy hair and everyone is always telling me how soft I feel. When I'm a big boy my Mommie is going to do some kind of fancy cut on me but for now I usually just keep a puppy cut. I want to always look like a boy and not a girl poodle. I draw attention everywhere I go because my Mommie says I'm so gorgeous...I'm chocolate brown and most people where I live in the Memphis TN area have never seen a chocolate standard poodle. My Mommie is always telling me how proud she is of me because I am so well behaved and smart.

I'm kind of home groomed... I'm only 3.5 months old so I haven't had much grooming experience. I'm really good with the clippers though. Mom said that was because my breeder started shaving my face and feet when I was 4 weeks old. My mom shaves my face, feet and tail every week and bathes me when she says I feel grundgy. She said I need to get professionally done soon though since she doesn't want to pluck my ears herself. I would still love her but I know she doesn't want to hurt me.
