My name is Rusty and I am new to this group. I am a 12 yr. old Cocker Spaniel. About three years ago I started to sneeze ( both regular sneezing and reverse sneezing). I also developed a nasty nasal discharge. Three years ago my Vets were convinced I had nasal cancer. After significant testing including a nasal rhinoscopy and biopsy it was determined that I did not have cancer but rather environmental allergies. Here's the thing, I do not have skin allergies. I do not have any hot spots and I do not bite or scratch. I sneeze alot and have this constant nasal discharge. When I was first diagnosed the Vet tried prednisone but it did not help. I also tried several antihistamines but nothing helped.
Does anyone else have this type of allergy? If so how do you treat it? Are there shots for this type of allergy?
Good Luck Rusty! Sounds like it could be a sinus infection! Were you ever on antibiotics to treat an infection (was there an infection?). Perhaps you could find a specialist to better help, rather than your regular vet.
