I think this is a good idea for the starter thread.
What animals have you hunted?
What were you successful with?
What is your biggest hurdle to overcome?

Well, I made another kill yesterday. I ate a robin that unwisely lingered in my yard and didn't take off quickly enough...caught in midair.
Didn't eat dinner last night, naturally. One robin is enough food for me!

Oooh, a bird! I love birds!

I sorta got a possum last night. I was barking at it and throwing myself against the fence where it was sitting, and I knocked it off. Then it was lying on the grass and I poked it a little -- it wasn't moving so I thought it was dead. Then it wasn't very interesting, and Mom was yelling at me to come in the house, so I went inside. But when she let me out this morning, it was gone. Mom says it must have been "playing possum" and wasn't really dead. Darn! I wish I'd known that. I wouldda killed it for sure, and then that stupid possum wouldn't come and sit on my fence in the middle of the night anymore!

Mom took a picture of me stalking the squirrels this weekend and put it on my page -- check it out! I can lie like that watching them under the stair railing -- perfectly stilll and quiet -- for a really long time.

Wow, where should I start??? I am a very good hunter and my humans find this appalling (I don't understand why!).

I have had the most success with the chipmunks in my yard. I like them because they squeak. I have had moderate success with small birds, at home and at the dog park. Our yard is well fenced so not many rabbits make it in, but once one did but didn't make it back out thanks to me. After that one I was forced to take a bath, I don't know what's wrong with my people. Really I could catch my own dinner I don't need the stuff they feed me.

I can find mice anywhere. Once my mom and I were walking down a city street in front of stores and stuff and in a small patch of grass I still found a mouse. When we're in wooded areas all I want to do is stick my nose in the ground and dig a little and if my mom looks away for just one second I will unbury a mouse. Mom makes me leave it though and that is so frustrating.

My silly brother chases squirrels all day long but never catches any. I don't bother with squirrels because they are a waste of my time.

Lastly, I find scavenging for dead stuff to be quite exciting. I often supplement my human-fed meals with these tasty treats.

Very impressive, Takoda! And may I say, what lovely blue eyes you have!

As I said in the other thread, I think sled dog breeds are good hunters because they have wolf mixed in fairly recently. Mom had a husky-mix who was a hunter as well, although not as good as you!

wow....I hadn't thought of wolf in the huskies.
I didn't know they had been mixed so recently. And if that's the case, then what's my excuse? (no wolf for probably a few thousand years).
Got a squirrel last week. it was yum!

I caught a rat today -- right in the kitchen! Mom was really happy that I caught it, but not so happy when I left it in the hall still breathing. She had to call Uncle Mikey to come kill it.
