Well, in my case, what seemed to cause the bloat was running around like crazy playing with the kids in the backyard and gulping a lot of water. Right after playing I was chewing on a rawhide bone and I got to the good part and swallowed it. The mom here tried to take it away from me but I was too fast. Three hours later I started to experience pain and my stomach blew up. That was 5 years ago. I am 13 now. They stitched my stomach to something internal to prevent it from ever happening again. (At least that is what the emergency vet said.) I had stomach problems for awhile but a new vet gave me Talon powder to sprinkle on my food and I have been feeling great for years now!

My grandpa is a veterinarian and he said never to feed kibble to dogs that are prone to bloat/gastric torsion. It swells in their stomachs and is the worst food for these breeds of dog. I am fed homemade chicken and rice, but any kind of wet food is fine if you're not up to cooking. But please no kibble! Also, no exercise for an hour before and 2 hours after eating. Large meals split into 2 or three meals is safer too, as well as watching water intake, especially after playing on a hot day! Small amounts of water after playing, not gulping and gulping! Running up and down large sets of stairs, or any kind of body jerking movements are dangerous with food in the stomach as well. The deeper the chest, the more prone they are.

in regards to bloat... have your mom or dad feed you 3 smallish meals a day...
