At the beach I carry my toy / ball out with the tide as far as I can go -- mom's worried I'm going to get creamed by a wave. wink At parks with water I carry my toy / ball out on to any muddy pointy part -- and sometimes just drop it in. The more she says 'ball, ball, get it, b-a-l-l', the more I ignore her!

One day, we went to my favorite beach at Bird Key Park and Mom had me watch this guy and his poodle throw the ball and then the poodle would fetch it. We watched them for about half an hour, then I wanted to go back in the water again. Mom threw a tennis ball and I took off after a pelican-if Mom wants the ball back, she can ask the poodle to fetch it! Big dogs don't fetch.

Woof!!
Although I was born in Florida, I've never been in the ocean. However, I have gone in the lake at our campground. I marched right in, like it was the most natural thing in the world.

When we go to the dog beach Daddy will go out pretty far in the water with one of our toys and try to get us to come to him. I swim all the way out to him. I'm not scared of the waves--I try to jump over them!! My brother Max though--he turns around whenever a big wave is coming then he starts whining cause he wants to be out there with us. Hee hee! Sometimes Daddy will sit on a big rock that is just a little way out in the water and he pulls us up onto the rock with him. So we all 3 sit on that rock together and look back at the shore and Mommy says that we are soooo cute and that everybody walking by thinks we're really funny!

I live in a beach town in Maine and in the winter the waves are huge and the water is FREEZING!!! BUT that wont stop me from jumping in after a stick or ball... I am a retriever through and through. Cheers! Chaney

Hi Jordan, you're such a cutie! (Mom's words, not mine! She says she'd like to get a westie just like you.) I love retrieving balls/sticks from the lake and ocean too! I always bring it back BUT then I like to drop it juuuuuuust out of mom's reach. I'm hoping one day it will encourage her to get in and join me! She tries to use the "chuck it" ball thrower to reach the ball but I always hear her saying that she doesn't want to be on "Funniest Home Videos" BOL!
