I've wanted a dog my entire adult life...(and I'm in my early 50's!)

So, while I waited for my dream to come true, I thought up pages & pages of names for my future dog (that's if i ever GOT one...) I had names for females, males, little dogs, big dogs, cutesy names & tuff dog names...

My dream finally came true on September 23, 2005 in the form of an 8-week old, male Maltese puppy.

I named him: Bam-Bam

(It's from "The Flintstones", a cartoon from my childhood). It was cute (like Bam-Bam himself), short & snappy, and not too common.

I love his name, but Bam-Bam could care less: because when I call him he only comes when & if he feels like it ! All that work for nothing...Oh well !
SO, HOW DID YOU DECIDE ON YOUR DOG'S NAME?
Dakoda Bear

Love me, pet me,- give me- attention!

My husband and I adopted Cheyenne from an owner who had to move and could no longer keep her. As she was already over a year, we decided to keep the name she had.

Dakoda, on the other hand, was adopted from the pound...and we had no idea what his name was. Seeing as the name "Cheyenne" is Native American, I wanted another Native American name for our new pup. So I looked online at a baby names site specifically for Native American names. Dakoda was the one my husband and I agreed on...and so it stuck.
Aiki

I fetch,- therefore I am.

My mom was practicing aikido when she rescued me from the pound. Aikido essentially means "the way of harmony with the universal energy". So my name means "in harmony with the Universal energy". It's a joke, since I was SO SPASTIC when mommy first got me.

I got my name from my first owners (who only had me for 5 months). They named me Dora after the cartoon character "Dora the Explorer". When my forever mommy and daddy got me, Daddy wanted to change my name. Daddy finally came up with Adorable and they would call me Dora for short. Well it morphed into A Dora Belle and they still call me Dora (or DoorBell when I act dumb!).

The name Adorable fits me cuz everyone says when the first see me -"Isn't she so adorable" "look at the adorable dog"! Mommy says they should have left it Dora the Explorer since that is what I am always trying to do! heehee

Woofs--
A Dora Belle aka Dora the adorable explorer! (there that has all of my names in it!)
Monte

EVERYTHING IS A- TOY AND CAN BE- SHREDDED!

Monte came from a foster home in El Monte...hence the name Monte
Hope, NPC

Queen- of Naughty-

Hi,

I chose the name Hope because I hoped that I would pick a good baby sister for my older (now deceased) dog Bubba. Hope turned out to be an excellent sister for Bubba.

Bubba had just over 2 years with Hope. Without her, I don't think he would have lived as long. Prior to adopting Hope (4/04), Bubba lost his older cat brother Nicholas (8/03) and his older dog sister Shayna (2/04) within six months of each other and he was very depressed being alone.

Actually, Emma already had her name. The breeder was going to keep her but she had an overbite so they sold her to me . Even at three months she knew her name so I kept it. I like the name . The only thing was I named all my other dogs starting with s with a jewish theme ( Sadie and Shayna).
Norman

Norm, like the- guy from Cheers

My mom was trying to figure out names when she brought me home. We were relaxing and then the phone rang and she got up to answer it. She had this bottle she was sipping on and I wondered what it was, so when she got up, I drank it. It was beer. Mmmm beer! She called me Norm like the big guy from Cheers sitcom. I'm glad it wasn't Homer!
Cinnamon- Grrrl

The Little Bad- Wolf

I had already been named Cinnamon when Mommy found me on the Internet. She added "Grrrl" to it because I growl a lot, and also because one of her favorite songs is "Cinnamon Girl."
Smooch

I'm Smoochie!

Barked: Sat Jul 29, '06 2:54pm PST
I had the name Smooch in mind for some time because I think it's a cute word and because it works for a dog (Smooch the Pooch!). When we found Smooch, it seemed like the perfect name for him, because he kisses me a lot!
