Well, the results came back!!! In addition to environmental allergies, there are food culprits! (We are posting in F&N, too)

Buddy is allergic to chicken and turkey, Sadie is allergic to beef! In addition, one or the other is highly allergic to kelp and alfalfa. Sadie is low for oats. So, bye bye Acana! There's alfalfa in so many foods!

We are going to try Life4K9, what do you think? They ate a small lunch of it and inhaled it like it was scrambled eggs or something! I know it's new to them, so we'll see if this continues. Also, WAY less crunch than other kibbles!

Our quality Ingredients: Lamb, Lamb Meal, Ground Barley, Ground Oats, White Fish Meal, Olive Oil (preserved with mixed Tocopherols and ascorbic acid) Dicalcium Phosphate, Calcium Carbonate, Tomatoes, Avocado Oil, Sweet Potatoes, Flaxseed Meal, Rosemary Extract, Sage, Yucca Schidigera Extract, Vitamin A supplement, ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) Vitamin D3 supplement, Vitamin E supplement, Niacin, Calcium Pantothenate, Riboflavin, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Thiamine Mononitrate, Folic Acid, Biotin, Zinc Sulfate, Zinc Proteinate, Ferrous Sulfate, Manganese Proteinate, Calcium Iodate, Sodium Selenite.

With Oven-Baked dog food, the kibble and its ingredients are mixed together, along with real human-grade real chicken or lamb, and baked at 350° for about 30 minutes. Just like how we bake our own meals! Oven-baking produces a healthier kibble by baking out the naturally-occurring oils. Our ingredients are of the highest quality as well, notably human-grade quality. Sweet Potatoes, Barley, Dried Yucca, Rosemary, and Sage are a few of our wholesome ingredients in our formulas.

Well I bet you're happy to finally get to the bottom of this! There are oats in this food, so keep an eye on Sadie and see how she does.

Fortunately for us, Dutch's environmental allergies act up at the same time as my hubby's do. For the week or so when the environmental allergies are bad we use Benedryl or Chlorpheniramine - both over the counter human allergy meds. We discontinue the meds after a week or so and only give them when she needs them to prevent building up a tolerance. So far the Chlorpheniramine really works well. We also use baby saline nose spray and a humidifier at night.

Hey Dutch! wave

I am, thanks! But of course foodwise they are allergic to different things! big laugh I know, the oats! They really like this food, too!

But I think we'll try the Wellness Core and/or Natural Balance. If I had the tests done, I should probably follow them and feed a food that has nothing positive from those tests! way to go

That's interesting that they get allergies at the same time, wow! I'm glad those things work for you! That's AWESOME! applause

Glad that you have answers. Our Basset Hound has meat allergies, so he eats Lamb and Rice Formula foods.

My oldest GSD, Cody, is severely allergic to many things, alfalfa being high up there. I would try Simply Natural Duck and Potatoe, Cody has been on this for over 3 years and he hasn't itched since he's been on it. Gets occasional mild hot spots on his belly but that's due to the enviroment because he's allergic to certain trees/grasses.
