Can any of you Frenchie owners please tell me if your dogs get acne? I have a lot of it near my mouth. My vet tells me it's common in Bully Breed dogs, especially Frenchies. But I never see pics of other Frenchies suffering from it. I worry that it's going to cause some problems as I scratch them open while playing or chewing on things. They also have a tendency to pile up on one another. The vet said he'll only treat me with antibiotics if it's REALLY serious. Am I being fed a line of "bull" or have others of you experienced this too?

mine never had it, but it is common in bulldogs.
i've heard that feeding out of a plastic bowl can cause it,
because the bowl can harbor bacteria.
try a metal or ceramic bowl if you use plastic, and
try wiping his chin/face after he eats.

Thank you for your response. I do know about the plastic bowls and I don't use them. But I will try to keep my face cleaner and my dish cleaner as well. I wonder if plastic or rubber toys might also be a problem? Most of my favorite toys are soft chewy rubber type things. Hmmm. Have to ask the vet when I go tomorrow.

Dont worry about it all!!!
Just like our teenage years hormones give zits to Frenchies too!
My boy has had several (he's 8 months now) but i haven't seen one in a while.
They come and go without any need to worry or do anything about it!!

Hi, Also also experience Acne with my Frenchie Cowboy. He does not eat out of a plastic bowl or have any allergies. I make sure I wash his puss every day as he is a slob and gets food all over his mouth and face. I found that if I don't, he gets acne. We he does, I clean him good and wipe the affected area with a stridex pad.
