|I have to agree with Diesel. Our dog, Haddie, has shown nothing but love to people and (especially) children. Although she does have a problem with other female dogs, but that is probably because a huge female great dane tried to "dominate" her when she was about 6 months old. But in regard to humans, as long as you accept them, she accepts them. If you don't know them, she just goes behind your legs and doesn't want anything to do with them.
One thing I need to emphasize is that these dogs are the quintessential "pack dog" ... they must be with family most of the day. My neighbor also has an AmBulldog and he leaves the dog in the house most of the day alone, which brings out an "edgier" personality -- but the dog is still very mellow, he just isn't quick to accept those outside the pack.
But don't believe anyone that will tell you that they are the same as a pit. The temperments are not even close. I have other neighbors with pits, and I would rather have an AmBulldog any day!
