Is my akita japanese or american?

Bought her a few days ago, the breeders state she is japanese but by her colour she appears to be american so I want to make sure.

edit: omg, sorry. I just realized how old this post was, sorry!!! But your dog's older now, so you could post a picture of how it looks now.

It's no Japanese Akita for sure. Japanese Akitas come only in red/white, white, sesame, and different shades of brindle) and with urajiro (white colouring on muzzle, legs and belly. No masks or any kind of spots. Yours seem to have a black mask under the blaze which is typical for american Akita.

I am not used to the American Akitas so I might be wrong. But your pup looks to light built for an American, so it's probably not purebred or it's a mix of Japanese and american Akita. But it's very young, it's easier to tell when it's older.red face
