|Flickamom - I think that you talk to Jenna's dad so if I could pass on something I wish I had known about with Rocky at the time he became sick.
If there is to be only Palliative Care, as we did with Rocky - there is also a Hospice option for dogs, I understand.
The other thing - Very Important - make sure that blood work is Done - Rocky was severely anemic as we had chosen not to go to any aggressive treatment, and bloodwork was not done - he must have felt horribly ill with such a low blood count.
Also, a good vet friend said that giving Vit. B-12 will also help them feel better. We got at Vitamen World and they had a capsule (small) that disolved quickly in the mouth - Rocky ate them easily.
Just some thoughts to pass on that may be of help.
The night we took Rocky for the bloat, the vet said he was so severely anemic he needed blood transfusion before he could begin to treat him for the bloat.
When you choose Palliative care, I'm not if there is a standard protocol as to all vets what they consider to be done. In our case, it did not include the bloodwork.
We want our Jenna to feel good, and good strong blood and the Vit. B-12 will help her to do that.
Precious girl, this is so hard on all of us, her dear friends. We love you.
